You know, come to think of it, Captain Kirk's commands were USUALLY sexy.

> FYI, that's from Amok Time.

Kirk's arm posture in the pic may be worthy of further analysis...

There's a trend here and in real life; after watching (or listening) to
constant replay of some scenes, new meanings and perspectives start to
appear.

Yeah, and what about the tone of voice? He says it like Mae West would
say it.

I also love the way he delivers this line:

http://allyourtrekarebelongto.us/carryu.wav

Who can tell when he said that, and who he said it to? :) I know the
answer, do you? :)

Seriously, listen to what he says and the way that he says it. Is it a
threat, or ~a promise~? LOL

If memory serves, he said that to Charlie X during one of their power
struggles.

> Picard gives commands to computers and replicators with the same firm
> voice:
>
> Computer, End Program.
> Computer, locate Ensign Crusher.
> Halt Turbolift !

Hah! Why doesn't the ships computer also control the turbolift? Or maybe it
does.

Instead of saying: 'computer, halt turbolift' maybe it's just easier to say
'halt turbolift'.

Man ToolPackinMama, whenever he said it, it's sexy!!!

but hey, come on Picard's sexy too! Let's just call them different
*kinds* of sexy?

Kaytee
~who now realizes she said "sexy" once per sentence in this post :S

btw, I think my fav Picard quote is in the "Nth degree" when Barklay
saves the ship and all Picard can say is "Thank you mister Barklay" all
sarcastic-like...but if I have to choose from the orig. list, I pick
"Evasive Action"

No, I didn't know the answer; my last re-watch was over 2 years ago. Even if
I had watched it yesterday I still wouldn't know :)

I remember Kirk for his actions (including kissing women) and Picard for his
stern words.

I think the computer does control the turbolift.

The lift appears to accept standard commands such as "level 4; halt; resume"
without being preceded by 'computer'. Conversations carried out inside the
turbolift are ignored by the computer, so may be it is limited to specific
commands.

That episode where Picard went back to the empty ship to get his
saddle, and ended up killing an entire band of terrorists, was
great. He was like, a bald action hero.

If Picard wanted the computer to locate Dr Crusher, he said "Computer,
locate Dr Crusher"! If he wanted Riker to locate Dr Crusher, Picard
would have said "Locate Dr Crusher, Number One" or similar. In both
cases, he dictated what he wanted done and who was to do it.

Short of Riker sticking an iron girder across the turbo lift shaft,
there was only ever going to be one thing that could stop the turbo
lift, so was there ever the necessity to say "Computer, halt turbo lift"?
