Does anybody know for sure if Angel published in 1984 also a CD edition
of this album?

Thanks

Oscar

Whatcha mean? Isn't the EMI CD an EMI/Angel release? Or is the 1984
date in question?

>From the Don Menn interview from '92:

DM: I love The Perfect Stranger.

FZ: Well, then you're going to love the new release of it, because it's
coming out on CD. When it was originally released, Angel pressed 5,000
copies. Digital recording was in its infancy at that time, and I've
always been less than enthusiastic about the sound of that first CD. I
though that it didn't come anywhere near what the musicians really
sounded like in the room. Last July or so, we got a new Neve console in
the studio, which is far cleaner and much better sounding than the
Harrison that we had for the last 10 or 12 years. So I mixed it. And
those new mixes are on the CD re-release.

According to Greg Russo the CD was Angel CDC 7 47125 2 on 08/23/84 (just
like the vinyl)
According to Zappa Patio EMI CD (CDC 7 47125 2, UK only, 1985)

Is this the same thing? UK only? EMI or Angel? or Both? 1984 or 1985?
Did Emi print only 5.000 copies?

Life is really question.

Angel is an EMI label, and I'd trust Russo on the date. I have always
assumed that CD was only released in Europe.

I prefer the sound on the LP. At one time I owned the original CD
release too and compared to the LP it was very one dimensional with
virtually no stereo image at all. The LP is one of the few vinyl
artifacts that I have kept. Was the EMI vinyl release a different mix?
