#1: American Dad: George Clooney episode part of South Park "war"?

Posted on 2006-07-07 02:11:57 by 888eight888

Although South Park's "Cartoon Wars" Parts 1 & 2 are a blatant shot at
Family Guy...

Original air Dates: 2006-04-05, 2006-04-12
<a href="http://www.southparkstudios.com/show/display_episode.php?season=10&amp;id1=1003&amp;id2=146" target="_blank"> http://www.southparkstudios.com/show/display_episode.php?sea son=10&amp;id1=1003&amp;id2=146</a>
<a href="http://www.southparkstudios.com/show/display_episode.php?season=10&amp;id1=1004&amp;id2=147" target="_blank"> http://www.southparkstudios.com/show/display_episode.php?sea son=10&amp;id1=1004&amp;id2=147</a>

Perhaps the American Dad episode, (also produced by Family Guy creator
Seth MacFarlane), &quot;Tears of a Clooney&quot; is a shot at South Park?

Original air Date: 2006-5-14

Supposedly, George Clooney had something to do with South Park's inital
recognition during the early &quot;Spirit Of Christmas&quot; days.

In &quot;Tears of a Clooney&quot;, is Francine's hatred of George Clooney
reflective of this ongoing &quot;war&quot;?

interesting theory. I would imagine a direct jab at South Park from the
FG writers would incur universal ridicule from all sides in this
conflict - and they probably know this. Perhaps the Clooney jibes are
the first in a long line of subliminal SP-bashing from the McFarland
camp?

I don't recall any other American Dad episodes dedicating a whole show
to a celebrity...So why, of all people in Hollywood; George Clooney?

There's probably going to be a less subtle jab in a future Family Guy
episode where we will see Peter say something like, &quot; That reminds me of
the time when I visited South Park, Colorado...&quot; and then they will
goof on the South Park cliches.

It would not be wise for any other cartoon to get into a serious mudslinging
contest with South Park, because South Park will always win, because South
Park effectively always gets the last word.

Look at the production schedules. South Park can turn around a complete
episode if necessary, starting from just an idea in Parker and Stone's
heads, to on the air, in under a week. They can revise an episode even
faster.

Take a shot at South Park, and South Park's answer might be on the air that
very week. You just can't win in that kind of argument.
