I thought the lady who played the voodoo priestess (Naomie Harris as 'Tia
Dalma') was very good.

It seems that a lot of the gags in the movie didn't work out. There were
some scenes, like the one where Will Tanner is captured, that were supposed
to be funny in the script. I guess the director didn't do a very good job.

Tinsel Town was packed and there was applause at the end. I thought it
was great, better than the original. There are two kinds of sequels,
the characters in more of the same and the characters in a new
adventure. The successful sequels is the later and PotC was the later.
Johnny Depp was funny, the action was good and humorous, and Verbinski
keeps things moving at a lightning speed. I would rate this ***1/2.
Would hae given it a ****, but for the ending, and that's all I will
say about that.

Enjoy yourself with this movie.

Are you sure? Maybe you should take a look at these quotes from the two
movies and compare them. I think you may be in for quite a shock:
PiratesII: <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383574/quotes" target="_blank">http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383574/quotes</a>
Pirates I: <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0325980/quotes" target="_blank">http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0325980/quotes</a>

&gt; There are two kinds of sequels,
&gt; the characters in more of the same and the characters in a new
&gt; adventure. The successful sequels is the later and PotC was the later.

I thought it was more like they took dynamic characters from the first movie
and turned them into static characters.
I think theres a humongous difference between taking dynamic characters and
turning them into static characters with new settings vs. taking dynamic
characters and leaving them as dynamic characters in a similar setting. I
would personally prefer to watch dynamic characters in the same setting than
static characters in a different setting.
<a href="http://www.ksu.edu/english/baker/english320/cc-static_vs_dynamic_characterization.htm" target="_blank"> http://www.ksu.edu/english/baker/english320/cc-static_vs_dyn amic_characterization.htm</a>

&gt; keeps things moving at a lightning speed.

I'd say the term 'lightning speed' is accurate. And Johnny Depp was funny on
occasion. Some people found him more funny than others. I think the director
could have done a better job at making things in the script translate into
acting.
