#1: Anyone ever meet Ian McDiarmid? Fan Friendly?

Posted on 2006-07-06 05:20:54 by Robert Scaglione

Hello all.

I was wondering if anyone ever got a chance to meet Ian McDiarmid? If so,
is he fan friendly or approachable?

The reason I ask is since I am a big SW fan and with Palpatine/Sidious my
favorite character (and my girlfriend a fan of Ralph Fiennes) we are going
to see them in the play Faith Healer in NYC this weekend and hopefully (with
more than a little luck) see if I can get an autograph either before or
after the show, most likely be waiting outside the theatre for Mr. McDiarmid
to pass. Of course we would be very low-key and respectfull whether he's
approachable or if he dashes for the limo.

I heard when he was in NYC last year promoting ROTS, he was singing up a
storm.

On a side note, is Mr. Finnes fan friendly as well?

Peace.

Capt C.

I really don't know if he's fan friendly or not but whatever may happen let
us know how you went.

After the show we got to see him as he autographed Playnbills after the show
as the cast left the theater. He refused to sign the EP3 Pic I had (I asked
a friend to make a glossy of him in the red 'mace unmasking battle' outfit)
but at least he was polite and pleasant in doing so. He did sign the
playbills for everyone. His performance was wonderfull. His character's
stories about the Whippet were hysterical. Ralph Finnes and Cherry Jones
were great too. If aniyone likes drama theater, it's worth seeing. Mr,
McDiarmid truley deserved the Tony that he won.

There has been a lot of talk about Ian McDiarmid on a message board for
him. Go to:
<a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ianmcdiarmid" target="_blank">http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ianmcdiarmid</a>
They have a lot of reviews fans have written on the plays they have
seen. There are also lots of photos from his many movies and great
links and clips. Quite a bit of recent talk has been on Faith Healer.

Not really interested in collecting autographs, but it was interesting
reading about your efforts. Thanks for posting your follow-up.
