This isn't comic books. Star Trek has at least some credibility.

> Now, I'm just passing this along. DOn't anyone get their hopes up.
> Paramount is still not loking to do anything with Trek in the
> foreseeable future...
>
> Singer Considers Trek Movie
>
> Bryan Singer, an avowed Star Trek fan, told SCI FI Wire that he's
> thought about directing a Trek movie. "I'm a huge fan," Singer said in
> an interview at the Nov. 30 premiere of the SCI FI Channel's upcoming
> original miniseries The Triangle, which he executive-produced with
> Dean Devlin.
>
> Singer added: "We're huge Trekkies. And we've always talked about what
> we would do, and what would I do, if I were to make a film in that
> universe."
>
> It's unclear when or if Paramount will mount another Trek film, since
> its last effort, Star Trek: Nemesis, did poorly at the box office and
> the last Trek series, Star Trek: Enterprise, was canceled after
> drawing low ratings.
>
> Singer has kept a strong link with the Trek universe. He made a cameo
> appearance in Nemesis. He also worked on the last two X-Men films with
> The Next Generation's Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard). Singer is
> currently finishing Superman Returns and is working on his next
> project, an update of the SF movie Logan's Run.
>
> "Again, you know, it's the same thing: X-Men, Superman, Logan's Run,
> all these things: There are these incredible universes, really,"
> Singer said, adding: "You kind of wish you could play in them all. I
> mean, I got to do a cameo in the last Star Trek film; that was a
> thrill. I got to be on the Enterprise when it was under attack."
>
> As for what he would do in his version of a Star Trek movie? "[That's]
> a longer story," he said. "It would involve ... it would be big. It
> would be very big."

Know what Paramount should do? They should comission a series of
ten limited budget Trek films by different well known directors,
and run them as a miniseries on television. Just let the directors
do whatever stories they wanted to do. They could put the Trek
special effects team at the disposal of the different directors as
their films came up, so all the films would have a nice, uniform
look and feel. It would be fascinating to see what fresh minds
would do with the Trek universe.

That's what we got with Beavis & Butthead, and Star Trek ended up going
down the toilet. :-(

>
>
> Quentin Tarantino: "Kill Trill"
> David Lynch: "Eraserforehead"
> Spike Jonze: "Being William Shatner"
> Elia Kazan: "Klingon The Waterfront"
> Steve Smith: "The Red Green (blood) Show"
> Roland Emmerich: "The Stardate After Tomorrow"
> George Lucas: "The (Terran) Empire Strikes Back"
> Steven Spielberg: "Close Encounters of the Vulcan Kind"
> Stanley Kubrick (yeah, yeah, I know he's dead, I just don't give a trout): "Spatial Anomalies Wide Shut" or "2001: A Space Odo-ssey"
> That Guy Who Directed 'Moulin Rouge' And The Weird LeoDiCaprio Version Of Romeo & Juliet: "Fish Jokes A-Go-Go"

A worthy list, noteworthy for its randomness. Let me see if I can
come up with a list of my own that is equally irrelevant. Now
watch, as I gather ten directors into my shining silver net.

1) Chris Carter: "The Third Moon"
2) Joss Whedon: "Rebirth of the Federation"
3) Peter Jackson: "Attack from Andromeda"
4) Brian DePalma: "Their Myriad Wicked Ways"
5) Wes Craven: "Light of a Dark Sun"
6) John Carpenter: "Landrew Returns"
7) James Cameron: "Space Eaters"
8) Michael Mann: "The Farpoint Affair"
9) Ron Howard: "Klingons Do Cry"
10) Terry Gilliam: "The End of Everything"

It's actually stolen from the novels, although the writers there do
have a very tight set of rules rather than complete free reign to screw
up the franchise even further.

That depends on how detailed you make it.

You obvious can't patent "device to breath underwater", but you can
patent / copyright "device to breath underwater utilising sponges and
grape jelly". Anyone who then makes a product using sponges and grape
jelly for breathing underwater could be in trouble.

Apple Computer (among others) patents concepts galore, many of which it
never uses or has any intention of using.

If you were to described a detailed storyline that then later turned on
on TV identically or "close enough", then the person claiming it as
there own would be in serious trouble (assuming you can prove you came
up with it first).

I honestly think that is a great idea. After the ten or so movies have been
made and shown on TV, Paramount can have a huge vote by the fans as to which
movie to turn into a new series. Who knows, maybe we could find another
awesome Trek.

Yeah, but I'm talking about some lowlife assistant to some
producer, who is so desperate for material, but so brain dead,
they'll do anything for a new idea. I've had my ideas stolen by
television series before, so I know it can happen. I never
particularly minded them being used. After all, it's not as if I
could sprinkle salt on them and eat them. They were no use to me.
I have no trouble coming up with fresh ideas.

> >> > >>>
> >> > >>> Thank you. Let's hope some eager young Paramont flunky is reading
> >> > >>> this group, and decides to steal my idea and use it for his/her
own
> >> > >>> career advancement. We might see some decent Trek.
> >> > >>
> >> > >> If only they actually would "steal" some (freely offered) ideas

> >> > >> fans. We would all be better off.
> >> > >
> >> > > They are legally prevented from doing so, AFAIK they could get sued
> >> > > if
> >> > > they do that.
> >> > > Which is why none of the authors ever frequent these NGs.
> >> >
> >> > But that is absurd! You can't patent/copyright a "concept"!
> >>
> >>
> >>
> >>
> >
> > There you have it, the definitive answer form "Anybody" (he's so
s-m-r-t)
>
> You know, I never had a problem with him until he started calling me and
> others (on a different group) trolls, just because we did not agree with
> him. Now, I look at what he writes and feel bad for him. He obviously has
> nothing to do other then bitch and moan about anything and everything.

Indeed... and apparently he knows how to produce and write (and probably
cast and act in) TV shows too. Just ask him.

Heh heh, indeed.
And according to "Anybody" the only way to improve Trek is the deaths of
Berman and Braga 'cause they're to blame for *everything.* Oh and stop
"Hollyweird" recycling ideas (and making them better) like the re-imaging of
Battlestar Galactica. (IMO the best and most enjoyable Sci-fi series since
B5, oh ya and season 4 of Ent)

This is also why I have posted in the past that people shouldn't post
good ideas; the producers can't legally use them. So we should only
post really bad ideas, thereby forcing the producers away from drek.

Anyone care to see Trek 90210? It would be brilliant.

LOL!
Let then bicker, it out to be good. TPM uses her own personal dictionary

looks as though "Anybody" does too.

> Know what Paramount should do? They should comission a series of ten
> limited budget Trek films by different well known directors, and run them
> as a miniseries on television. Just let the directors do whatever stories
> they wanted to do. They could put the Trek special effects team at the

I like that idea.

>
> I honestly think that is a great idea. After the ten or so movies have
> been made and shown on TV, Paramount can have a huge vote by the fans as
> to which movie to turn into a new series. Who knows, maybe we could find
> another awesome Trek.

That would work for me.

Tell me about it. I and a couple others have already had it out with
'Anybody' about BSG in, oddly enough, a 'Knight Rider' (yup, the show with
the talking car :-P ) newsgroup, as that franchise is also thinking about
making a big-screen movie, and 'Anybody' had to chirp in and tell us how
much it would suck. As for the BSG argument, I and another person asked
several questions as plain as day, yet Anybody refused to answer them based

> Here's my wishlist of directors
>
> David Lynch

But no midgets!

> David Cronenberg

In his early scary style, not his later WTF style.

> The Wachowski Brothers

Phaser time!

> Quentin Tarentino

"Borg to the left of me, Klingons to the right,
"Here I am,
"Stuck in the force field with you.

> JJ Abrams

Huh?

> Doug Liman

Que?

> Ridley Scott

"She'll be an android, but she'll live forever!"

> John Woo

Spock: "Captain, why are you wearing that long leather coat?"
Kirk: "Shut up Spock, it making a statement."

> George Romero (for any Borg stories)

"Set phasers to kill, and just shoot 'em in the head."

>>>> Of course he does. Yet, I have not seen him offer one good idea on how

>>>
>>> Heh heh, indeed.
>>> And according to "Anybody" the only way to improve Trek is the deaths of

>>> "Hollyweird" recycling ideas (and making them better) like the
>>> re-imaging
>>> of
>>> Battlestar Galactica. (IMO the best and most enjoyable Sci-fi series
>>> since
>>> B5, oh ya and season 4 of Ent)
>>
>>Tell me about it. I and a couple others have already had it out with
>>'Anybody' about BSG in, oddly enough, a 'Knight Rider' (yup, the show with
>>the talking car :-P ) newsgroup, as that franchise is also thinking about
>>making a big-screen movie, and 'Anybody' had to chirp in and tell us how
>>much it would suck. As for the BSG argument, I and another person asked
>>several questions as plain as day, yet Anybody refused to answer them
>>based
>>on the fact that I was a 'troll' and the other guy was just stupid. But,
>>can't win 'em all eh? I actually feel sorry for Anybody. He seems to be
>>stuck in his own little world where everyone is against him and
>>'Hollyweird'
>>is out to get him. But, I, you, and many others have tried to reason with
>>him, only to come to the conclusion that 'Anybody' is truly 'Nobody'.
>>Should
>>he decide to engage in further mature conversation, I myself would be
>>happy
>>to do so as well, but I think he is stuck on 'playback' and will not
>>change.
>>
>
> What a pompous self-important ass you are. In the real world, you'd
> be missing teeth for sure.

In the real world, you would be too chicken shit to do it, so bite me.

>>>>>Bring back Kirk!
>>>
>>>>>
>>>>>
>>>>> You mean wheel back Kirk.
>>
>>>
>>>Sulu: "We'll bring Kirk back in a floatation tank full of water."
>>>
>>>Chekov: "But ... how will we carry that much water without
>>>flooding the ship?"
>>>
>>>Sulu: "Transparent aluminum. We'll build walls of six-inch
>>>transparent aluminum. It worked for the whales."
>>>
>>>Scotty: "Aye, laddie, it might work. But I dunna think six-inch
>>>walls will be thick enough. What if he thrashes around in the
>>>tank? It'll never take the strain!"
>>>
>>>Sulu: "You're right, Mr. Scott. We'll use eight-inch thick walls."
>

> Captain, "There be whales here!"

I wonder if Shatner makes those whale noises when he swims under
water?

Wow. I am in awe of you. To think that I am the asshole, and not you, the
one who came into a conversation knowing absolutely nothing about the topic,
and started acting like a moron.
Though, for the record, I never said I was better then anyone else, just
that 'Anybody' runs from arguments when he knows he can not win them. As I
also said, you sound like a Sock-Puppet of his. If you have a problem with
me, tell me what it is and perhaps it can be resolved. If your only problem
is my un-trust of 'Anybody' then that is between him and myself, and you
need to seek out a life.

Not all doughnuts have holes. Some are more like buns in shape. In fact,
it's sometimes hard to discern whether what one is eating is a bun or a
doughnut.

doughnuts. If it doesn't have a hole, it's a bun, not a doughnut.

Especially those bluenosers where it's actually a Nova Scotia law that one
MUST go to Tim Horton's at *least* 3 times a week. I beleive him.

"OK," say I. We look down the hallway and no word of a lie the is 20 or so

no line so we went there, as we weren't from that coast we had no fear of

>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>Tell me about it. I and a couple others have already had it out with
>>>>>>>'Anybody' about BSG in, oddly enough, a 'Knight Rider' (yup, the show
>>>>>>>with
>>>>>>>the talking car :-P ) newsgroup, as that franchise is also thinking
>>>>>>>about
>>>>>>>making a big-screen movie, and 'Anybody' had to chirp in and tell us
>>>>>>>how
>>>>>>>much it would suck. As for the BSG argument, I and another person
>>>>>>>asked
>>>>>>>several questions as plain as day, yet Anybody refused to answer them
>>>>>>>based
>>>>>>>on the fact that I was a 'troll' and the other guy was just stupid.
>>>>>>>But,
>>>>>>>can't win 'em all eh? I actually feel sorry for Anybody. He seems to
>>>>>>>be
>>>>>>>stuck in his own little world where everyone is against him and
>>>>>>>'Hollyweird'
>>>>>>>is out to get him. But, I, you, and many others have tried to reason
>>>>>>>with
>>>>>>>him, only to come to the conclusion that 'Anybody' is truly 'Nobody'.
>>>>>>>Should
>>>>>>>he decide to engage in further mature conversation, I myself would be
>>>>>>>happy

>

Only a guilty person like you has to protest too much. Besides, I
told you to go hide back under your rock. You don't listen too well.
If you had any balls or intelligence, you would take it to email
between yourself and the person you are stalking and quit trying to
make this newsgroup into your own private pity party. You loser.

typical coward, when he gets called out for his BS, he acts tough,

<Snip>

>>>>>>>>Tell me about it. I and a couple others have already had it out with
>>>>>>>>'Anybody' about BSG in, oddly enough, a 'Knight Rider' (yup, the
>>>>>>>>show
>>>>>>>>with
>>>>>>>>the talking car :-P ) newsgroup, as that franchise is also thinking
>>>>>>>>about
>>>>>>>>making a big-screen movie, and 'Anybody' had to chirp in and tell us
>>>>>>>>how
>>>>>>>>much it would suck. As for the BSG argument, I and another person
>>>>>>>>asked
>>>>>>>>several questions as plain as day, yet Anybody refused to answer
>>>>>>>>them
>>>>>>>>based
>>>>>>>>on the fact that I was a 'troll' and the other guy was just stupid.
>>>>>>>>But,
>>>>>>>>can't win 'em all eh? I actually feel sorry for Anybody. He seems to
>>>>>>>>be
>>>>>>>>stuck in his own little world where everyone is against him and
>>>>>>>>'Hollyweird'
>>>>>>>>is out to get him. But, I, you, and many others have tried to reason
>>>>>>>>with
>>>>>>>>him, only to come to the conclusion that 'Anybody' is truly
>>>>>>>>'Nobody'.
>>>>>>>>Should
>>>>>>>>he decide to engage in further mature conversation, I myself would
>>>>>>>>be
>>>>>>>>happy
>>>>>>>>to do so as well, but I think he is stuck on 'playback' and will not
>>>>>>>>change.
>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>> What a pompous self-important ass you are. In the real world, you'd
>>>>>>> be missing teeth for sure.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>In the real world, you would be too chicken shit to do it, so bite me.
>>>>>
>>>>> You're the sort who talks big and never shows for their transfusion.
>>>>
>>>>*yawn*. And you sound like an 'Anybody' sock-puppet. Either way, do not
>>>>presume to know me. Oh, and like I said before, bite me.
>>>>By the way......What is your problem again?
>>>
>>> You're a fucking asshole. Not my problem. Yours. And like the dunce

>>> bragging about how much better you are than anyone else in existence.
>>> Back under your stone, coward.
>>
>>Wow. I am in awe of you. To think that I am the asshole, and not you, the
>>one who came into a conversation knowing absolutely nothing about the
>>topic,
>>and started acting like a moron.
If your only
>>problem
>>is my un-trust of 'Anybody' then that is between him and myself, and you
>>need to seek out a life.
>
You loser.

Oh man you amuse me so very much. But, I was going to try a little more to
see what your problem is, but having read the other post's of yours in this
group, I see you are a complete utter Troll. Have a nice day.

Have you guys seen the TV commercial where all the snobby people
are sitting at the diner table asking for the preserves and then the
"down home" guy says in a quasi-southern American accent, "Can
ya please pass the jelly?" All the snobs roll their eyes and exhale in
their high faluting ways. It is kind of funny as it pokes fun at how
serious people can be about something so benign.

A doughnut without a hole is like a lifesaver without a hole. For
some reason it doesn't taste as good. And that reason is ...
surface area. Having a hole in the center exposes more surface
area, hence enhanced taste. A Burlington Bun is a very nice
confection, but it isn't a doughnut.

> >>>>You're talking to a Canadian, here. We're the world experts on
> >>>>
> >>>>>> >>> doughnuts. If it doesn't have a hole, it's a bun, not a
doughnut.
> >>>
> >>>> >
> >>>> >
> >>>> > Well lookie here, you Canucks can believe whatever perverse
> >>>> > confectionery-related dogmas that you like. Here in the fine
British
> >
> > Isles
> >
> >>>> > though, a jam doughnut is sort of bun-shaped, with the jam in the
> >
> > middle. We
> >
> >>>> > had an empire, you know.
> >>
> >>>
> >>> Empire, shmempire, that's a Burlington Bun.
> >
> >
> > According to this site
> >
> > http://www.oup.com/ca/genref/dictionaries/about/
> >
> > A Burlington Bun *is* a name used by colonial guttersnipes for... a jam
> > doughnut.
> >
> > Don't even get me started on "jelly". I may become so furious as to
> > spontaneously implode.
> >
>

If this were a Bermaga script, we'd be talking about doughnuton particles by
now, and we'd have to reconfigure the main deflector to emit a doughnuton
pulse to make a hole in the Burlington Bun.

And then at the end, time would reset and the hole would have *never been
there at all*.

It all makes sense now, when you explain it in terms of doughnuts.
And the takions would be the sprinkles!

:P

But seriously - unless you really get into it - there is a difference
between jelly, jam, preserve and etc. It seems not enough people know that
there truly is a difference.

>>>>>>>>>how

>>>>>
>>>>>*yawn*. And you sound like an 'Anybody' sock-puppet. Either way, do not
>>>>>presume to know me. Oh, and like I said before, bite me.
>>>>>By the way......What is your problem again?
>>>>
>>>> You're a fucking asshole. Not my problem. Yours. And like the dunce
>>>> you are, you will die a coward's death behind your keyboard someday
>>>> bragging about how much better you are than anyone else in existence.
>>>> Back under your stone, coward.
>>>
>>>Wow. I am in awe of you. To think that I am the asshole, and not you, the

You loser.
>
>Oh man you amuse me so very much. But, I was going to try a little more to
>see what your problem is, but having read the other post's of yours in this

Jackass, I'd tell you to go to hell but you already live there in a

>
>
>
>
>
>
>
