To suggest these questions is to imply that the paragraph is frought
with a tension that I do not feel. To me, Rowling is merely piling on.
The Dursley's are one-dimensional villains, and we are never invited
to sympathize with them in any way, in marked contrast to the tragedy
of Aunt Em that Baum so poignantly and succinctly evokes.
