KY/Midwest Gather Charity Auction [message #91548] Mi, 27 Juli 2005 05:57
Wertle
Hi everyone!

The KY/Midwest Gather is right around the corner, starting August 12,
yay fun times.

Even if you cannot come to the Gather, you may be interested in
donating to our charity basket we are making.

We will be submitting a dragon/animal-themed basket to be auctioned off
at the Con's charity auction, donated by the Gather as a group. The
charity for the Con this year is the American Cancer Society.

If you have dragon/animal/fantasy-creature themed books, movies,
stuffed critters, or anything else that you would like to donate to the
basket, please pop over to the Gather site and sign up. If you are far
away and would still like to donate something, that is cool too, just
get in touch with me about shipping.

http://wertle.com/charity.html

Anything and everything muchly appreciated! Thanks!

Oh, hey, LFS! You can send the extra Terry Prattchet book to Wertle!

Not exactly fantasy-creature (unless Death counts) book though. But
Pratchett books are good with anything. ^..^

I would still happily accept it! The convention itself is a
fantasy/sci-fi one, so even more general stuff is welcome. Besides,
Terry Pratchett is awesome, yeah? Drop me a line about it.

Draco--it's true I don't post on here much these days, but I've been
sneaking the around the newsgroup for years and years.

Pratchett is a very good British author who has written 36 (37?) books by
now. They are all humor (some satire), and some even have no plot (or at
least feel like it because so little of the book actually pertains to the
events dealing with the plot; can't think of a specific title at the
moment).
And of course Death is a character, along with his white horse Binky and his
butler Alfred (who, incidentally, has about 36 minutes to live (depending
on which book of course, he ventures out and spends some time occasionally),
and his daughter, who marries his apprentice, Mort; they later have a
daughter who becomes a school teacher (and has some of Death's powers
(stopping Time, talking in ALL CAPS, walk through walls, that kind of thing)
from being his granddaughter and all). And she /hates/ the Death of Rats
(who says SQUEAK all the time and gets around on a talking crow).

I know that, (you're one of the more famous...names, dragons, person (?)).
I just don't remember having seen a post by you.

Sure. I registered it on BookCrossing.com, it's BCID is 626-3081954, so
hopefully whoever gets it ultimately will continue with the log.

Yeah I'm likely starting to rot by now.

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention, artstuffs are welcome in this basket,
too. I'll likely toss in something myself.
