I was browsing at Borders the other day, and I was overwhelmed at the number
of Trek novels out there. I thought I might give one or two a try. Where
should I start? I'm partial to TNG and DS9. Any suggestions?

Well, you can "Start" just about anywhere, but to get a bit of a rehash of
Star Trek and TNG woven into an excellent read, try "Q-Squared" by Peter
David. This book is of the elite class in the Star Trek Universe, and by far
my favorite.
Another book to try after that one is "Vendetta". This continues the story
of "The Doomsday Machine" in the TNG time frame.
For the original series, pick up any James Blish book. Blish kept me going
until ST:TMP came out.

I liked the Eugenics Wars books about Khan's rise to power. There was
supposed to be three of them... The first two were about his days on
earth (with sprinkles of other characters and events throughout) and the
third was to be about his time on Ceti-Alpha-whicheveritwas.
Anyone know if the third book made it out? Sounds like it'd be boring.

It's out in hardcover. I haven't read it yet since I'm waiting for the
paperback.

There's a whole series of DS9 books that take place after the final episode that
are very good. The first book in the series is Avatar, Book 1.
