It may be a bit premature, but tF4 opened to $20 million
USD on its first night, so it's a safe bet that it will
eventually surpass the foul evil hell-spawned PJ movies,
which Morgoth bred in mockery of the sacred Tolkien text.

Considering my experience with the Circle and Metropolitan lines, I'd
be grateful if they ran at all.

And this has WHAT to do with Tolkien?

I get so sick of these posts. Let's try to stay on topic here?

You guys are spoiled. You oughta see what David Lynch and John Harrison did
to the Dune series. Compared to those abominations, Jackson's LOTR movies
are completely faithful...

And I did enjoy tF4. I thought Jessica Alba's costume was, uh, well fitted.
Shame that Ioun Gruffud had to ditch his accent though.

Yeah, too bad she kept turning invisible, huh?

Honestly, I can suspend disbelief in cosmic-ray generated

chase down a guy.

I haven't seen him with accent, but I'm sure I will.
I'm told he dumbed down his real (Welsh) name so
English speakers could at least try to pronounce it.

PS - One of the trailers was for PJ's new King Kong movie.
Looks pretty good. Maybe now that he's got that out of

I get plenty of intellectual reality in my day job. Mindless entertainment
works for me.

True. And I really like her as a blonde... Well, what I mean is that her
acting talents are superb when she plays a blonde. Yeah, that's it. Acting
ability.

Assuming his Hornblower accent is his real one, I think he'd have done fine
in the US. I guess that only the bad guys are allowed to have English
accents in Hollywood...

Didn't see that one here. I'd like to see it, but I'm not real sure that

Essentially nothing. But I thought it was a spot-on parody of Louis's
anti-Jackson rants, which can only be a good thing. :) (I'm still
disappointed that nobody came up with the idea to get him into the

Oh, we all do, believe me, FotW especially. (And even some of the
other movie-haters, I'm sure. Don't those "Congratulations" posts
just _keep_ attention on Jackson's movies?)

Well, we could try and convince New Line release an Epstein Extended

Which part, my appreciation of the parody or my comment about the
credits? :)

If the former, well, while I respect Louis's right to hold and express
his own opinions about the movies, I really do feel like hearing about
those opinions has gotten a bit old. I mean, I _liked_ the films, and
I'm pretty much over them. The thought that Louis is tracking their
relative box office performance years after the fact seems to border
on self-parody already. :) (And in general, I just like parody.)

If the latter, I suppose that wishing it had happened could be a bit
mean (not that it would have done any real harm). But it certainly
wasn't my idea originally! That honor goes to "Dlehmicke" back on 13
November 2002, who actually made us think it had actually happened:

"BTW, who's the merry prankster who got Louis Epstein included as a
charter member of the LOTR movie fan club?"

It looks like someone pointed out that Louis's name wasn't _actually_
there on the 15th, but that post doesn't seem to have been archived on
Google. (Dlehmicke responded, though, saying that he'd just been
hoping to see Louis's reaction.)
