The new edition of the ZZ9 Magazine (issue 97) was posted to members
earlier this week, and includes:
Radio News, broadcast, publication and award information;
Film News, box office takings and sequel speculation;
A report on the World Film Premiere & Party;
A report from the preview of the Science Museum Exhibition;
Film, Soundtrack and Book Reviews;
#4 in our Film Locations Series;
Interviews with Martin Freeman, Karey Kirkpatrick and Shynola;
All the usual news, events, competitions, letters and

ZZ9 is the short name for ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha, which is The Official
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Appreciation Society. The magazine is
called Mostly Harmless, a title the club used before Douglas Adams
produced the fifth book of the trilogy.
See www.zz9.org for details of joining, or email info [at] zz9.org.
We will also be at Worldcon this August.

And I would just like to say that the club absolutely zarking rocks, and
I've enjoyed my copy of the magazine already. :-)

The film stank. I hope the magazine won't be taken over by the film to the
expense of the wonderful new radio series(es).

The ZZ9 magazine reflects what members write to put in it. The
contents of the last few issues are listed at http://www.zz9.org/mh
Things like the Douglas Adams Memorial Lecture and the Steve Meretzky
and Michael Bywater In Conversation event were covered in the last
issue. I think I forgot to mention the Last Chance to See Update in
the current issue.
We recently published a long interview with Dirk Maggs spread over four
issues. We aim to get the background stories that you do not
necessarily find in other publications.

Only so much you can write about the film, unless you're really determined
to put your viewpoint across, e.g. MJ Simpson.
Otherwise "it sucked" covers it.

That sounds excellent. I've been tempted to join many a time. Societies I
join tend to fold shortly after, so I possibly won't - in order to not jinx
you!

ZZ9 is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a party at the
AGM in November. I expect it will be around for a fair few more years
to come, so don't worry on that account. If you join you can get back
issues of the club magazine with those interviews in.
