Hi all,
I will soon be moving to a new (RL) lair, and will therefore be purchasing
a bunch of things like furniture, lighting, decorations, etc. in the next
month or two. I'd like to have something of a dragon theme (e.g. dragon
lamps, possibly a dragon table, throw blankets, etc.), so I'm looking for
recommendations for places to buy such things.
I am already familiar with dancing-dragon.com, and Google has revealed a
few more possibilities...has anyone dealt with them, or other places that
sell this sort of thing? Any recommendations or anti-recommendations?

eBay?
If you want some good music you could look at the Masterharper of Pern
CD (http://members.aol.com/opland2/perncd.htm). I have it and love it.
Do NOT buy anything from http://mysticdreamsshoppe.com/ because they
sell art without the artist's permission.

I have a few of the Dancing-Dragon stuff. It's fairly good quality
stuff, but the packing material sticks to the pieces and takes some
meticulous picking to get all the styrofoam bits out of the
crevices...
The tables and lamps are nice but they don't have color and they need
bright full spectrum lighting to bring out all the details. it's also
not the best material for actual use and will wear, it is after all
just cast plastic resin.

If I knew where you were moving from and where you were moving to, I
could offer some suggestions. For example, a dragon store in West
Edmonton Mall and a place in Calgary called Red Moon Gifts would be
useless if you didn't intend to be anywhere near Calgary or Edmonton

Wish I knew of some. I can only suggest general things, like if one
dislikes light coming in the bedroom windows in the morning (or anytime
really), get black matte blinds that cover their own holes. They are a
dream. *Dreamy look* My mom calls my room a cave for a reason ya know.

Craft shops mainly....
I shall also be setting up a lair in East London and I've been looking
about, not hunting, more a serendipity thing....
My niece got me a mirror with a dragon frame; I got a steel ddraig goch from
a garden centre craft shop (and had to mail some magnetic strip to the wall
to mount him!)
As an aside, shouldn't dragons in a room or hallway face the door to guard
in matters of Feng Shui?
I had a nice Dragon birthday card in a frame at home, the steel dragon
guards my adopted lair entrance...

Probably. Not that Feng Shui is a science...
I do know that what Feng Shui is about is setting up a house (both
structurally and aesthetically) so that a dragon (oriental) would want to
live
there.

Unfortunately, no, I won't be in Alberta. I am moving from New England

A cause for either excitement or dread, depending on one's
perspective. :)

I have one of these:
http://www.smokindragon.com/dragon_lamp1.htm
No idea if the company that produces them has an outlet near you,
alas, but they're pretty sturdy and not terribly expensive. There's
a lot of variety in the range, too -- everything from bookends to
wine goblets.
It's fairly important that you don't mind grey, or are handy with a
paintbrush, though, if you decide to buy more than a few items. The
resin they're made out of is always that colour. <:)
Ikea does some nifty oriental dragon draught excluders, too, if such
things would be useful to you.

Where on the West Coast? From what I've seen of maps, it's rather
large..... Lager than even Lake Superior, which takes about 4 hours at
60mph to get away from.....

This New England to the west coast is a trend in my family also. Two
sisters from Massachusetts chose California. And more family in Oregon.
Best of luck with the actual new lair.

I can help you with that part of the country. I used ot live in southern
California and frequently visited the northern part. Monterey near San Fancisco

Well, dragons have a keen sense of smell, and the scent wouldn't be the
same. A pile of spray-painted copper isn't nearly as appealing as a pile
of gold... ]:-8)~

"sort of near San Francisco." ];-8)~ I don't like getting too specific.
But if you know of any good stores for dragon things in the greater SF
area, feel free to post them--one of the first things I'll buy is a car,
so I should have at least a bit of mobility....

Same. I think only (I have only one aunt, but she's in the pattern) uncles
and cousins in my family live anywhere else.
My family immediate:
NoCal -> VA -> SoCal -> 3 miles inland -> Pennsylvania.
The rest of the family is located in and around Seattle.

The walls of the original house (130 years old) is made of field stone
(pulled from *drum roll* the fields that we also own) and covered in
plaster. My room is one of the four non-attic stone walled rooms. It's
painted a dark green. Black would be better, but there's no ambient light
save what comes in the door. And any computer screens...

Hmmm, I haven't really done alot of shopping there. Usually stopped by Monterey
Bay area or around the Golden Gate Bridge. China Town is pretty interesting too.
For auto places I would recommend looking through the list on this site:
http://sanfrancisco.citysearch.com/find/directory/sanfrancis co/10/112/page1.html
For dragon stores I don't know of any specific ones. Maybe the "Lucky Dragon
Gift Shop". Only thing I could find online was
http://www.gargoylestore.com/cat9.html. It's not much but they have a few dragon
related things.
Hope that helps.

A friend gave me that male dragon statue once. She said she found it in
her closet. She also said she had no idea where it had come from or how
much it had cost.
A $99 statue, and I got it for free!
