A NEW PLACE FOR A TRADITION! (Food Fight topic) [message #67385] Fr, 24 Juni 2005 17:09
Greylight12
*Greylight walks around bored with almost nothing to do. He appears to be
carrying a small backpack of sorts on one side supported by a rope hanging over
his back. On the other side is a bag which is full of something he will reveal
later on *snickers*.

He stops in the middle of a large clearing and proceeds to make a giant
colosseum specially designed for food fights. A sign is posted out front stating
"This Way to Food Fight Colosseum!" Upon completion he motions for other beings
to join him. There are two entrances one to the north leading to the bleachers
for beings who don't want to get into the food fight but still want to watch the
fun, and one to the south leading to the main colosseum floor where all food
fights commence.*

Hello everyone! Welcome to my new Food Fight Colosseum. This place is designed
for food fights and will magically clean itself at the end. Anyone can use this
colosseum for future Food Fights if they wish.

*He looks around and sits down to wait for other beings*

Just my way of giving something back to the community. And to have a little fun
in the process. *grins*

Shoofly pie is a very sticky-sweet high sugar pie.
*Looks it up on Wikipedia*
Shoofly pie is a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch molasses pie that is
considered a delicacy in both that cuisine and in Southern cooking. It is
often referred to as "wet bottom" in its most common form because it
comprises of a layer of sweet, gooey molasses beneath a crumb topping
sometimes compared to that of a coffee cake. In contrast, a "dry bottom"
shoofly pie is more thoroughly mixed into a cake-like consistency.

The dessert has earned quite a reputation in the "Dutch Country" of
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where its distinctive flavor and texture is
quite alluring to tourists. The origin of the name is commonly thought to
arise from the cooling of a fresh-made pie on a window sill during colonial
times, where the scent would attract flies that would have to be "shooed"
away.

Here's what the cookbook says about it:

/"This is a favorite item with visitors of Strasburg, Pennsylvania, and
has been popular with natives of the Pennsylvania Dutch country for
years. It is both delicious and inexpensive to make, thus satisfying two
basic needs of the Pennsylvania Germans - the love of good cooking and
the desire for frugality."/

Damn, I can't lick it off up there! And it's one of my favorite kinds of

Take that!

I knew I would find something else in that cookbook!

Ok, it is getting seriously hot here. Makes me wish I could reach back
into January and grab some of those flavored snowballs.

If it's been there that long, I'd rather not.

I decided on something, but now I forgot what it was. I'll have to start
thinking again.

What do you mean by "too bad"? ;)

Look on the bright side -- yours works. My handsfree unit broke off
inside the cell phone jack, so the cell phone thinks the unit's attached
and cut off the phone speakers and mic, but the handsfree unit isn't
plugged in, nor can it be, so my cell phone is a nice paperweight.
Until I get to the store, anyway. I'm glad I got that 3-year over-the-
counter unconditional replacement guarantee when I got my cell
phone.....
