I didn't see that, but I had problems with the page.
Did you see William Shatner on the AFI Tribute to George Lucas this week?
It was a HOOT!

Too funny. :-)
Shatner has such a good sense of humor, and comedic timing.
No wonder The Trouble With Tribbles was so funny!

No, I missed that, but I did see Miss Congeniality 2 recently. He was
cute in it. The fact that he was in bondage through the whole thing was
a bonus for me. :)

Shatner is equally good in dramatic as in funny scenes. He has some
rare gifts.

I think USA is repeating the AFI thing...Shatner starts it off. It's worth
catching.
I just rented and watched Miss Congeniality 2. It was...OK. Shatner was
all right in it, but the movie was a shadow of 1.

Yes, one was MUCH better. I really disliked many things about 2. But
that's a discussion for a diff NG.
IMHO, more Shatner in that film would have improved it. IMHO, he should
have been the only person kidnapped. The whole movie should have been
about him.
He was the funniest thing in Showtime, IMHO. That eyebrow scene was
FOFLMAO funny.

He has that same serious/funny streak that you see in Leslie Nielsen

I agree. IMHO Shatner is a better actor, though. Shatner has the most
wonderfully expressive face and body. What he can do with his facial
expressions alone is kind of incredible.
Too much attention is paid to Bill's vocal idiosyncrasies. TV and
movies isn't only about sound, it's mostly about the image. We had
movies for a long time before sound was even introduced. The main thing
in TV and movies is still (IMHO) what the eye can see.
Shatner is brilliant physically, especially facially. His face work is
awesome. Look at his acting work in the close-ups. He has incredible
abilities and talent for showing even complex (mixed) emotions on his
face. Awesome. He has rare talent in that area, and IMHO there are few
actors of any class who are better in that category.
Vocally, although his breathlessness has been often mocked, his voice
work is wonderful: his attactive, mellow voice is musical and
fantastically expressive.
Shatner has some rare talents. His success is not accidental, nor
"wrong". He is successful for many good reasons. He is very talented
in many ways. He is loveable in any role.
Many actors would give their left nut to be as successful and as adored
as Bill Shatner is. He is enviable - and for good reason. He is
immortal for playing an immortal character in an indelible, irreplacible
way. Shatner is Captain Kirk, and Kirk is a hero for the ages.
Kirk is a hero for the ages, partially thanks to Shatner. Shatner
didn't just play that character, he embodied him. Thank Bill Shatner for
making Captain Kirk seem so alive, and so appealing.

The man has an uncanny sense of how to reinvent himself to remain a viable
actor. That's a rare trait. Has anyone ever read his biography? Was there
more
than one? If so the first one? I did about 10? years ago and was impressed
with his professional struggles and decisions.
