SPOILERS, you know, just in case...
But, not TOO much space. ;)
I've listened to the last three Phases partially out of
order/incompletely. I have heard all of So Long, all but the finale
for Mostly Harmless, and Life I missed the first 2 episodes and the
rest were sporadic. So, I've had the chance to get catch up, and,
there's something I'm not entirely sure was addressed.
If the Secondary Phase was all a psychotic episode in Zaphod's
head, how then did he, Trillian, and Marvin escape the ship they stole
from Milliway's when the shape shifter started attacking them?

The last picture in Last Chance to See is DNA staring up at
the stars, prostrate on a beach. If you look closely, you
can see the answer, suspended above his head like a helium
balloon tied to his nose.

6/17: I downloaded "What Do You Want from Life?" by
the Tubes from iTunes. Then I played it. I heard the
Tubes play it themselves live Thursday evening in
James Park. That was great. This still plays okay.

Yes, and knew where their towels were!

Off radio, of course, what must have happened was the shape
shifts changed into beds and Zaphod and Trillian were so comfortable
they fell asleep. During which, Zaphod had his psychotic episode.
Marvin, only temporarily shut down, eventually rebooted and awoke our
heroes. Luckily enough, their towels, always kept handy, had become
dislodged from their personal storage areas (Zaphod had one, Trillian
used a different one, naturally.) Over the course of involuntary
tossing and turning during sleep, the towels became lodged in the
breathing orifice of the respective creatures, then having morphed
into nice, comfy chairs, suffocated. A passing ship, the Day Us
Ex-Machine, Eh?, just happened by at an improbability rate equal to
the number of letters in this reply. It picked up our friends and
that was that.

Maybe we can just retroactively apply the McGuffin Device at the
end of the Quintessential Phase. That the Babelfish in Zaphod and
Trillian's ears saved their lives. Knowing that their death was
imminent, they teleported away, with their hosts in tow. They
rematerialized on the Heart Of God.

Yeah, to dry himself off after he washes his head at people down the phone.

So there's no automatic dry-off-system installed in Marvin? Maybe that's
the real reason why he is so depressed.

Umm, I got out my LCtS book and found that picture. My picture of DNA
prostrate on a beach is during the daytime, there are only clouds in
the sky. Where do you get stars?
Also, does anyone know where I can hear the other endings? I've only
heard the Restruant at the End of the Universe one.

6/24: Mayor Matt Neely dropped by the Mountain View Peace
Vigil this evening and told us "keep up the good work."
That proves the government definitely knows we are there.
Later I saw Groovy Judy sing at the Red Rock. She's good!

Do it!
I strongly recommend it. It makes the whole series so much better. You
wouldn't have believed a few minutes here and there could make such a
difference but it does.
Still don't like the ending(s)
