I'll go you one further and state that anyone who attempts to make any
future sequels should be eviscerated publicly. I was so involved in those
books at such pivotal years (13?), it's kind of hard to read "Salmon of
Doubt". I've erased the movie from my mind already.

He must have been smoking freebase pretty heavily to die at 54 like that,
though.

I never forgave him for saying that, when he finally read
Robert Sheckley's books, he was put out to find out that
"the competition was so terribly good."

Sheckley was not Douglas Adams's "competition". At his best,
he was the master of cosmic comedy with a sly twist that leaves
you looking over your shoulder for that thing you didn't know
was there but always kind of sensed. Adams never came anywhere
near that level.

As a friendly warning to us resident afdaniains, I think I should warn
everyone that this is a crosspost with among others alt.flame.

Just ignore it and it will go away.

Well, the flame above is apparantly the only posting Google has indexed
posted to that newsgroup.

Either that, or the indexing is strange - i noticed a posting posted to
alt.books.douglas-addams which couldn't be found with the
"group:"-syntax, maybe the old postings from dejanews were imported in
another fashion than the new postings are indexed...

I can find several postings talk _about_ alt.books.douglas-adams,
though, is if it was an existing and live newsgroup. Some of them are
apparently just referring to afda but forgot the name, while others seem
to indicate that bth exist...

Oh well...
