This is the '30s? I thought we were only in 2005!

Happy birthday, Nemo. If this is the '30s I guess you will be at least
55 years old. How time flies!

Yup, me too, although he probably win't read this.

oh ah oh my.

I am indeed 30.

I've also started using google groups for %afda... this is my first
post test... will be interesting to see how this pans out (I'm so used
to reading afda through my old news->mailing list gateway...

uhm... I still owe people christmas cards... I've not forgotten. Just
deadlining insanely. It's a time honoured tradition I hear.

Also, would I be insane to post about my timecapsule here and ask for
contributions? :)

I can see this message, and am in the process *right now* of replying
to it. How's about that for technology, eh? Marvellous.

I don't know, is that the sort of thing you're likely to ask?

Best wishes to Nemo (I thought you were older (than me ;-)) and Arcum,
too.

Allow me to add my belated birthday wishes!
I'm late because I exceeded my newgroup post limit yesterday before
I knew it was your birthday. Sorry about that...

Allow me to share with you the gift a banker gave me on my 30th,
at my party, which is still one of the best partys I've thrown.

He said "look back at the last decade, and remember how long it
took you to get here from your 20th." "Your next decade will take
half as long to go through."

Seems like the deadline whooshed by seasons ago.

What are you looking for? When will it be opened?

Tuesday evening I was talking to an old Native-American-ish woman.
I told her I had been pondering that old saying "do the right
thing and you'll be okay" when I realized it was okay to use less
energy than I do, but it's a lot of work. I don't use much energy.

well, I have an envelope that I sealed when I was 12... with
instructions to myself to not open till I was 30... in fact,
specifically, May7 - which is also the date of my party and new capsule
sealing.

Currently I'm planning the new capsule will be an A4 or so sized
postage pack. I'll fill it with stuff, including the current capsule
which will be opened, read, enjoyed, and resealed.

The new capsule will have a 12 year deadline on it, and so be opened in
2017 - or to put it another way, when I'm 42 ... :)

Assuming no fall of civilisation between now and then, with any luck
I'll be able to look up THIS post online in 2017 as an explanation of
the capsules origins... now woulnd't THAT be cool? :)

PS: If you're reading this in 2017, hi from 2005!

I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not, so I'll just agree with
you. :-P No seriously, happy birthday mate.

Google Groups... *shudders*

Hah, don't worry. It'll be a nice surprise. But I think I already got one
off you, anyway...? Ah, I can't remember.

What kind of contributions are you after? Stuff like froup hugs, or
personal comments on you?

Oooh, you should print out your LJ userinfo and your afda biography (and if
you've not updated it in a while, update it specially) and put that in.
That sounds like a good idea.

well, google groups and it's semi-integration into gmail, works quite
nicely.

(ie, I'm already logged into gmail, and the summary of new posts is
about all I want in newsgroup updates anyway... :)

Floppy Booday Nemolove!

Sorry for the delay, I'm doing too many things these day, working 2 part
time jobs while trying to run a business and a household. Don't know
which is fairing worst.

Welcome to the aged. It's not pretty here. Still, I look back at the
uncertainty of youth and am glad for the wisdom of years... now, if only
I could do something about these wrinkles!

love ya, and miss our chats. I hope you enjoyed your birthday and if I
can find anything perfect for your time capsule, I'll send it on. May
7th, eh? Don't even know if I could get it there by then. We'll see.

TA!

very quietly... you'll have about a week or two extra from may7... cos
photos from the party will need developing and printing, and then
including (without being seen)

....and that doesn't happen overnight... :)

sssshhhhhhh ;)
