I should post more often but I do read! I promise.

I just wanted to show you all something, since I am an artist (traditional
mediums like paint, not pen and paper or digital) I thought I would give
this digital stuff a try.

So with my Gimp I plowed into unknown lands with my mouse in hand...

And came up with this:

Behold… Creativity.

<img
src=" http://gallery.gracefulsymmetry.com/albums/digital/moodies1_ creative.png">
(do image links work here? I don't know, anyhow if it doesn't I will post
the link in reply to this post.

But honestly I want to stick it to the fridge, I honestly do... (I think
my husband would look a me a bit strangely though, well he is a dragon to
anyhow.)

Ok well I drew the picture the other day when I was watching Law and Order
but ya, I drew 20 like this... well different moods. Mood icons for my
journal. But I coloured it on the computer with Gimp. (I hvae to use Gimp
since I use Gentoo Linux but I don't mind, I like Gimp.)

I know it is a bit big to be a mood icon but when I finish them all (19
more or something like that) I will resize them all.

But anyhow, back to the excitement, I actually did something digitally,
I'm so proud it is insane.

Oh ya and goddess bless for layers and me figuring out how to use them,
whoever created them should be worshipped.

Even though the perpective is horribly off, I like it.

Mmmm yummy green paint.

The image is a png so if it does not have a transparent background for
you, that is because you use IE and not Firefox (convert!) ~_^.

Can I convince you that the skewed perpective is because this is like the
Picasso version of my dragon form?

No? I didn’t think so… ~_^

I'll stop rambing now... I just was proud and I didn't think a non-dragon
group would really appreciate it.

Anyhow any comment and crit appreciated, I want to know what you think, I
really do!

Oh ya, this is my dragonself if you are wondering.

Looks a bit like the GIMP main icon, except a dragon instead of a wolf (or
whatever that animal is)

HTML doesn't work around here.

It'd be worse if I put that, let alone ANY dragon picture, on my fridge. Or
even my own PC desktop.

Yeah, I use that on every computer that I have, even the ones with Windows.
I just use it for photo editing and stuff like that, though.

Well, good luck finishing them. Maybe you'll get a perspective you like
better.

True enough. Simply posting the link, without the HTML tags around it,

Usenet, aside from the binary groups (of which this most definitely
isn't one) are text-only. Many Usenet programs, therefore, don't
support HTML.

X-Newsreader: www.talkaboutgaming.com

Seems to be posting from a website. In this case, I would suggest you
talk to the moderator of the website and ask them how to quote replies.
Other than that, find an actual news server and news reader, then we can
help more.

Actually, I know a site that has every newsreader available.
www.newsreaders.com (here for the *nix stuff:
http://www.newsreaders.com/unix/clients.html)
I believe that a few people around Here use Thunderbird (by Mozilla), but
there are dozens of others if you don't like a given one. And once you have
a news reader, it should already be set up for near-proper quoting.

Free servers are hard (and getting harder) to find. Check with your ISP,
they may offer it with your internet service. If not, you can try the
Newsreaders.com site for servers. Some may have just a one-time fee of $4-
10 for setting up your account (which isn't too bad). I'd recommend Tera
News (www.teranews.com) as it is in the low range. I'm using X-Privat, but
it isn't free anymore (yet I still manage to get and send posts).

Well, HTML probably works in all the Microsoft newsgroups. They're known
for breaking standards.

Actually, it'd be on a newsreader basis. If I went to one of those groups,
I'd get them all in plain text. I.E. all the html "code."

Actually, it works everywhere -- for the proper clients. For example,
Netscape reads in HTML, which is annoying when someone posts a browser
redirect, since Netscape automatically loads those pages. I, however,
am much happier with text-only than I ever was with a HTML-enabled one.
Plus, Xnews can be easily configured to run things if you really want
to.....

Perhaps, but I prefer a proper news server. And since there are so many
choices of ISPs out there, if one doesn't offer a news server, there are
prolly 10 others in your area that do.....

Well, there are dozens out there--it really depends on what kind of user
interface you want. IIRC, Pan is graphical and fairly intuitive. If
you prefer something text-mode, I know people who use gnus and slrn, but
haven't used them myself.

> just so I can post here, it is just not that important to me, there

Ah, but one of the advantages I see in this group is that it *is* on
Usenet rather than being a simple web-board--thus, one gets the benefits
of using a proper newsreader. (Of course, as with everything, YMMV.)
]:-8)~
Also, as a practical matter, some Here generally enable X-No-Archive:
when posting, so one wouldn't see their posts using talkabout or Google
Groups.

There might be a configuration setting buried in the menus to disable that;
regardless, I'd say it defaults to the wrong behavior.

Yup. Heck, HTML in *email* still bothers me...although it does help me

I'm not sure if mine come across as HTML or not. I use Incredimail, so

Yeah--if you've got backgrounds and images (or even just formatted text),
it sounds like HTML mail. Plain text is, well, just plain text. ]:-8)~

they might just be image attachments, though, since people have
responded and not had any HTML formatting in the responses.....

I dunno. But the HTML part can be stripped off when replying also. And
some mail reader or mail server may not support HTML and result in the
HTML part get stripped off autometicly.

Why don't you try sending yourself an email? then you can see if it's
plaintext or html ^^
