I was driving back from one of my service calls.
There is this concrete yard statue place that I always rubberneck as I
pass by, they always have a large amounts of stuff, some of it quite
large, I have been noticing more and more gargoyles, water dragons and
such (kind of funny when they are placed right next to the large St.
Mary or Jesus statues); but never quite what I wanted.
I just about ran off the road when I saw this, in the front of the
yard. I could not resist picking her up.

Now, the only problem is, that she weighs all of 400 pounds...how I am
going to get her out of the truck and into the place I wish to place
her is beyond me....

No the next question is should I paint her or leave her as is...I
think I will give the concrete stone she is setting on a bit of color,
just so you can see where she ends and the stone begins...

I got her off the truck.
I had to use every one of the truck cargo straps I have...
I put some true 2X4's under her and cross lashed her to them, then
used some more straps lashed to the 2x4's and made a point cradle.
then I backed up to a tree I have in the yard with the perfect low
branch of respectable size and used two more straps to lift the whole
thing and slowly inch it all to the ground; placing her on a 12X2 and
using a hand truck and a lot of cushioning, I even mamaged to wheel
her onto the front part of the house. Now I need to figure out just
where in the rock garden to place her :)
I think she will fit nicely next to the front of the walkway, right
where you can greet her as you walk up the path the the front
door...yes, just next to the Celtic knoted bird bath.

You should paint her, at least I think so. That stone is such a bland
colour, and no dragon is just one colour. If nothing else, there's the
black of their pupils.

Hmmm. good point.
I will start with the base (picked up some paint today)
and see how it looks, then I decide from there :)

North Western Kentucky, just south of Evansville, IN then just south
of Henderson, KY in a small town called Robards. I live on easy
street, no really, the name of the street is 'easy street'...We can't
seem to find a way to keep people from stealing the signs...

But..... I don't have pupils..... And I'm one colour..... Except for
my eyes.....
But for colour, perhaps something a la Dragonheart, where he turns the
colour of stone. Maybe sort of colour her head and upper body, petering
off to stone, as if she's just emerging from camouflage? If nothing
else, it'll give a reason why nobody saw her before };=8Þ

I think I'm having it 'blocked' by something. I even turned my firewall
completely off. I'll try some tweaks and see what will let me through.

While I do not discount the wonders of cyanoacrylate, even welding the
sign to the pole has lead only the sawed off poles, or chaining the

Hmm, yes.
I think I will give the mouth insides some color, the rock base, and
the horns and ear fins a slight off white/ivory just to differentate
them from the body. The wings, tail spade and spine ridges will need a
bit of color, along with eyes and talons...all in all, whoever I think
I will try to give the apearance of a stone white dragoness...I have a
thing for white dragonesses :)
