Exactly. I had a post that had two links for fixing the wings, but it
apparently got deleted. Shame really. I found both links with a simple
Google search (well, ok, it took me a few tries, but I knew what I was
looking for). If I were doing research on a fantasy creature, Google is
where I'd start.

Maybe you had to do a search using "myth and dragons" because it's a search

actually ive seen a few places that have "fixed" the wing in
discussion...
course they still havnt fixed the breath yet... had one put some
scientific stuff that also disproved somewhat the hydrogen platinum
thing but then said it wasnt feesible when tried other elements... what
about a whole nother thing entirely? noone has thought that up yet
(actually one did but very briefly). thinking of some chemical that can
be created by combining enzymes and digestive byproducts that reacts to
oxygen? not sure if such chemical exists but i think something close to
it does... either way something along those lines is way better than
the other... would search it but not sure what to put in for a
search...

You're implying that dragons are fantasy creatures. A creature of
fantasy doesn't exist. However, we both know that dragons do exist and
as such aren't creatures of fantasy.

Stupid things that they are. But then, unless a dragon created all the
content you were searching, you'd still have to do searches for stupid
things to get the results you want.....

Oh. And you have the reply that actually made sense while answering my
question.
My point is that they don't know that dragons exist. They are looking up
fantastic creature of legend as far as they are concerned. I can't think of
a good example (of something along the lines of things that aren't O-kin).
My thought process to arrive at my Google search term ("dragon biology" oh,
187,000 results 1st useful; "dragon anatomy", 268,000 1st useful; "dragon
science -fiction", 1,490,000 3rd useful; "dragon chemistry 'breath weapon'",
131, 2nd useful; "dragon physics wings", 62,900 1st useful) goes thus,
dragons (old as freaking time) -> dragon-fans -> realist dragon-fan ->
someone's probably already done this.
In each vague search one of the top five sites game me what I was looking
for. Maybe not professional, but certainly a real scientist would be able
to look at a fan site's research and quickly agree or disprove it.

Honestly, that didn't help.
I wouldn't use the word "myth" or "fantasy" in a search where I'm trying to
find physics, chemistry, and biology or anatomy. "Dragon" (to the
uninitiated) implies "myth," "legend," "lore," or "fantasy."

*Googles "dragon 'breath weapon' chemistry"*
Second result. http://www.dragnix.net/From_tail_to_snout/
Quote:
Fire Breather:
The breath weapon of a dragon is not a magical thing that spread out of no-
where but had a more scientific explanation. When we eat our body by
digesting created a gas know as Methane (CH4), dragon unlike human and other
animal store this gas into another kind of "lung" that will serve as a
bag/canister to held the gas that will be later mixed with a small amount of
phosphor (P4) that has the propriety to ignite in fire at the contact of
air. When the dragon wants to breathe fire, the methane is release into the
lung and when the gas is in the air, the phosphor ignites and also puts the
methane in fire.

ok, that would work. though it wasnt the one i was looking for....
*searches around*
well, discovered im looking for a "pyrophoric liquid", but all my
searches keep coming up with industrial and govermental storage and
shipment standards for said liquids.... even if i use boolean operators
to say not to...
course i might actually be looking for two liquids that combine into a
pyrophoric liquid...

Most would look at it and say, "pure rubbish." I have yet to see a
scientific proof of anything fantastic. Even magic doesn't work with
science as we know it. For example, the Law of Conservation of Energy
says that energy can be neither created nor destroyed, and since matter
is a formula of energy (E=MC^2) that matter can be neither created nor
destroyed as well, except by converting a massive amount of energy into
said matter. But I can take magic, create an object of whatever size I
choose, and the magic continues to flow on neither dissipated nor used
up nor converted.

Some say that magic come from another realm or dimension, other say that we
soak in an etheric substance. I don't know how to magic... yet, but I think
it comes from somewhere.

That's what I said one time about crating massive amounts of matter
(shapeshifting? I've forgotten). That the magic energy reserve is so huge
that even creating 4000 tons of matter is less than 1/100 of a percent of
the energy available, thus no measurable drop is detected.
But...if magic works the way every one says it does, then it is defying the
laws of physics.

Let me ask you this, how long ago would a box that cooked food without
any apparent source of heat or flame seem like some sort of powerful
magic, or a box that showed you images of places far away or of a
different time, or another box that let you communicate with those on
the far side of the world... powerful mojo at work here, no?
As an aside, how many of you own a microwave oven, television, and computer?
What one considers magic is relative to their place on the technological
ladder.

Neither of these either creates nor destroys matter or energy, they
merely change the state of said energy. Thus they still follow the Law
of Conservation of Energy. How about a computer that didn't require
electricity to run, or a television that completely surrounded you with
images from no source, or a method of cooking food instantly by merely
looking at it?
> What one considers magic is relative to their place on the

So being a changeling is a technological issue? Not needing food or
water to survive is a technical issue? Certainly some illusions people
call magic are merely due to someone's understanding of technology, but
what about actually making something disappear? How about just masking
it so yo ucan't see it, but you can still feel it? How about changing
it so you can see it but not feel it? No, magic has nothingto do with
how technologically advanced you are.

Not magic, merely advanced technology as someone pointed out. Now, me
appearing right behind you and talking to you that way, that would be
magic.

Found the torrent feed where it saved the file, but the file is corrupt
and crashed WMP when it was about a third of the way through -- just
coming to the dominance fight scene.

Ever read one of the later Foundation books? Trying to remember which
one....when they find the Solarians, the last of the Spacer races that had
disappeared in Robots and Empire.

Well, the Solarians had this nice ability to use heat to accomplish work,
just by thinking about it (or in some cases, not thinking about it). All
perfectly scientific, but the simple explanation given to the characters was
magic.
