Just wanted to let you know that I visited your site and wanted to
say, bravo, well done - fantastic idea and done with such a great
feeling of love, comradery and just plain fun that it deserves to be
shouted from the highest rooftops.
Good luck for future Towel Days - I'll keep my eye out for them!

Argh!
I remember saying "Oh, and I got to have my towel along".
Five minutes later I left home and first happened to notice a lot
later.

It's not actually his site - Dave isn't the originator of Towel Day. He's
just a follower of the cause.

Every May 25th. Be there, be with towel.

My mother has moved it somewhere, and I don't know where.
My swimming towel, at least. I know exactly where all the others are.

Ah great! I should have started my douglas adams text one day before,
well well.. ill simply have to carry my towel around the rest of the
day..
Anyway, what are your towels like? Just plain old-fashioned
white/gray/dirty towels? or is it possible to have towels from places
you like particulary well.. like Hawaii or Sweden or something?
I think the towel-march would look much better if there were all kinds
of towels there.

In my bathroom, all soggy from a shower. Yes, I know it's not the most
popular use for a towel, but I needed a shower.

I've got a huge beach towel with a picture of two koalas and the words 'THE
AUSTRALIANS'. All my bathroom towels are a superintelligent shade of the

Bath towels don't generally make good beach towels, they usually too small
to lie on, or too fluffy and don't shed sand like a beach towel should.

Oh yeah, of course. I must admit that I don't have that many towels,
but I can recognise one on at least 100 meters.. And you are right, a
bath towel that makes a good beach towel, that is something special.
Absolutely most valuable for the regular hitch hiker. There really
should be someone making sure that not every nonserious towel-vendor
gets their losy towels onto the market.

Mine is organic cotton, with thin longways stripes of cream and
beige that I think were natually grown into the cotton. You can't
tell to look at it, but this towel is by far the most pleasant to
dry with I have.
I thought about using my GreenPeace WATER towel, which is not
much to dry with but a great political statement, but it would
be too much of a hassle to get it down.

Mine is a plain, dark green towel. Very neutral and calming.
I also have a spare one in almost white, vaguely yellow (is this the
thing called off-white?), but that is only a spare.

I do not worry too much about that. I do not have patience to lie on a
towel when I am on a bech.
I usually bring a small rug to lie/sit on in addition to a towel.

Actually it was the same colour when it was new. Also it is almost new
(one of those things mothers find "Oh, I thought you needed, so here
are three towels for christmas").
The newiness of the towel makes it a backup towel; I feel much more
comfy with the old, green one.

I didn't even realise it was May 25, and I've overshot by a day.
Where am *I* now, let alone my zarking towel? What happened to
yesterday? This is all too much. I'm going to go lie down for a bit.

Of course it did. It is a towel ;o)
As I said, I forgot mine. I thought of it in the morning and then did
not think of it until the evening.
Nonetheless, I just got a brand new towel. A real nice one with a map
of Greenland, little pictures of whales, seals and inuits. A real nice
one; it won't replace my good ol' green one, but it will act as a nice
backup towel.

Actually there are lots of fjords in Greenland (Thule/Pituffik,
Ittoqortoomiut/Scoresbysund, Kangerlussuaq etc.) and many of them can
be seen on the towel.
And where it is? Just beside me, yessir.
The thing I wonder more about is the almost total nonexistance of
glaciers in Africa...

There are no glaciers here in Australia any more. We do have one fjord,
though. Macquarie Harbour, Tasmania.
