I've just created a profile for myself on the group website...
You guys have no idea how lucky you are that I couldn't find a link to
upload a picture, LOL...
I had one sorted out and ready to go on my profile, featuring me licking
my own nipples...

You can't upload a picture automatically; it has to be sent in, sent back,
queried, lost, found, subjected to public inquiry, lost again, and finally
buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as fire lighters.

That's one of the weirder bugs I haven't managed to fathom. What's
particularly puzzling is that Nick's picture is neither that the top or
the bottom of the pictures list. I have now made a small tweak which may
-- or may not -- fix the problem (but may, as a side effect, break images
for one or two other people).

Oh, you might be able to find it after todays IRC discovery; I'm under

Sometimes I wonder if my froup rating is actually higher than what is
on the website.
Nonetheless I am often away for a few days from the froup and have a
hard time catching up (right now there are 240 unread posts) - in the
meantime I am usually online on IRC, although not watching actively
all the time ;o)

Only 240? I'm looking at 643 I have to read. I fell behind while
everyone was arguing about the movie. BTW, I know three people who
started reading the books because of the movie. So, even if you didn't
like it did encourage some new fans.

Sorry, I'm afraid you're a bit late; I just got back from there last
week. I'm always willing to return, though -- send me about $250 for
the plane ticket, and I'll be on my way. (Since I'm a nice guy, I'll
fly coach.)
Been gone for a few years, but it's nice to see some familiar faces
round here! Many thanks to Iaiain for (inadvertently, it seems) leaving
my picture on the Website despite the fact I haven't posted here,
since, oh... probably round 1999 or so. It gives people who Google me
something amusing to look at, as the picture was taken about seven
years, fifteen pounds, and a not insignificant amount of hair ago.
Now I live in Texas and have my face on a billboard. Mum and Dad are
proud (mostly about the latter bit).

Oddly, it seems I'm wearing the same tie I am in the vidcap on the

Hey guys!
Hope all is well with you... one of these days I'll have to crawl

I've been gone.
I'm not sure exactly what I did to vault myself to 'froup celebrity'
status, but I assure you whatever it was was a complete mistake, and I
promise it won't happen again.
I wish I could say I've been more interesting places between then and
now, but the truth is that I was in *another* small town in Mississippi
for a couple years before coming out here about nine months ago.
I think the reason that tie kees popping up is it's my school tie --
you know, got to represent when somebody's taking a picture for
posterity.
Picked up the BBC TV series when I was on vacation to replace the copy
I taped off public television about twelve years ago -- I think
Zaphod's head actually loked better on the beat-down VHS copy. ;)
Great to hear from you!

Ooh, well, quickly estimating quite how long it's been since you were
last here, some rough items I might remember (not necessarily in
chronological order):
- Meg got a real life.
- Douglas died.
- Caleb got married.
- I got married.
- Motti became Tie-Po (or something like that) and generated an
heir.
- "Teh Movie" (have you seen it?)
- BBC Radio 4 broadcast the Tertiary, Quandary and are 1 fit from
finishing the Quintessential Phases.
... and that's where my memory and imagination fail in this venture.
It's late on a Friday and I've had a long week's work. I plead frailty
of brain.

You're a bona-fide television celebrity! Pictures of you on the telly
and everything!

Shucks! How many small towns in Mississippippi can there be? ;-)

I completely understand. I don't think I'd wear my old school tie,
though, given as how it's ugly grey and blue-grey stripes and also
somewhere unknown.
>Great to hear from you!
Glad that you've returned to the fold. Just goes to show that you can
depart, but never truly leave, the froup.
