A couple things:
First, I only got through about half of the series finale. I was bored with
it.
From the second half of Terra Prime:
The Plaque next to the Mars rover honoring Carl Sagan was cool.
Did anybody notice that the tail of the comet wasn't pointing in the correct
direction?
Isn't it unreasonable to assume that the Enterprise crew was the only hope?
Wasn't there anybody on Mars (colonists, Starfleet personnell, etc.) that
could've handled the situation?

Hi!
No it isn't indeed unreasonable, that Starfleet installs a Laser, which
can blast off cities and kill millions of lives, and then leave it to
itself. Despite the female investigator on Enterprise, Starfleet
Intelligence had no evidence, that terrorists would try to sabotage the
conference. For the same reason, they gave their entire stuff shore
leave, so that everyone could celebrate the event.
As you see, it is quite logical, that there was absolutely no spaceship in
the range of the Moon or Mars, which could have stopped the terrorists.
In this spirit
Yours Gernot

Yes, but I thought I'd look like a total nerd if I pointed it out ;o)
I can't be bothered to watch it again, but I noticed that, and then later on
as they were approaching Mars they seemed to be coming in from the dark
side, which would put the tail direction roughly correct. Was it sloppy
lighting by the fx people? First shot wrong (tail pointing towards sun),
later shots correct (tail pointing away from sun)?
Also, the tail was way too short and dense. Berman's Comet?

While there have been many references in Trek to the Prime Directive, few
fans are aware of the Secondary Directive.
This is the one that holds that if Enterprise is in the Sol System, there
can be no other ships with the requisite expertise or firepower close enough
to handle any imminent threat to Earth. In lieu of the Enterprise, any
random Bird of Prey manned by a former Enterprise command crew will do.
