And I still miss him.
Thank you, Douglas

Saturday I walked a huge precinct in Oakland for Aimee Allison
with three other people. Maybe we got her a couple of dozen
votes she wouldn't have otherwise landed. Many times we told
people "your vote could make the difference."

Four years. Strange how quickly that's gone.
I've been married for fifty percent of the time (+/- 1 day) since that
fateful day. That seems to have gone pretty darned quickly too.
There's still a big Douglas-shaped hole, isn't there.

Such a shame he couldn't see the film finally realised and all the renewed
interest in HHGG.

I wasn't a fan during his lifetime. Wish I had been.

I emailed with him twice. I remember thinking at the time that Douglas
Adams had written just for me, even if it was only email. I never printed
them out, so they're stuck out in the garage on the hard drive of my old
Apple Performa with the broken power supply.
I decided I wanted something to remember him by, so I bid on a signed copy
of the Infocom game box. I didn't win. Instead, I bought a signed edition
of THHGTTG yesterday. My own BopAd is on its way by Royal Mail Airmail to
California; paid £1.50 extra for that.

That's... That's kinda profound.
I've gone all contemplative now. Thanks, John, for this moment of
contemplation.

Hear! Hear!
It might be just a small legacy in the scheme of things but he was one of
the greats in my view.

Wow. I caused somebody to contemplate. The world is now a better[9] place.
[9] From a certain point of view, that is.

I read some of his books while he was alive, but I wasn't aware
of the guy as a person known to other people that mean something
to me until I wandered into this froup. Unfortunately, that was
less than four years ago.
