I laughed, out loud, once at the sock puppet bit. On the whole everything
seemed rushed and this definitely detracted from the content. An example
might be when ford and Arthur are in the airlock, the "wait what's that
switch, no it's nothing, we are going to die." is there but unfunny because
it is rushed. No one in the theater laughed. There were 18 people in the
movie theater and I took a quick poll, 10 people had read the books, the
others just turned up as it was a Disney film.
I think that more could have been done for $40million but ho hum.

There were only 8 people in the cinema when I went on the 28th.

What was wrong with that scene in my humble opinion was that they'd
gone and put a bloody switch there. It was funny when Ford was using
his final moments in a last ditch effort to irritate Arthur. But they
went and put in some switch that apparently wasn't functional and
looked like it was purely a plot device. Sure, it was purely a plot
device, but it doesn't have to look that way. So all you get is a
half-built moment of suspense and drop. Could be a good tool in a
drama, if it was better executed.
....and if I misinterpreted, and other versions had something there that
Ford was lunging at, I still like my idea better.

It also shoehorned in the 'please do not press this button again' gag
from the radio series (at least), although you saw it rather than
hearing Arthur talking about it (which makes some sense, I suppose, for
a movie)

Yeah, I thought that too. Another scene that seemed quite rushed was
the bit with the whale. Pausing before the line, "Or is it the wind?"
makes it so much funnier.
Humour is very much about timing, and there were a few times where I
don't think they got it right.
