Exactly. Dwarves are Welsh (despite the fake accent, you surely don't think
it was an accident Jackson cast Rhys-Davies as Gimli?), Hobbits are
English, Elves are Finnish, and Orcs are the despised race du jour.

English were mre likely to be knights, whilst the welsh were good
archers, relatively scant in number and scattered.
Orcs are just the barbarians of the world, and in the medieval context
this seems to be more mongolians than anyone else.

No the hobbits are. They are useless and smoke anything. Plus, they
are dwarf-like (scottish-like) but aren't nearly as respected

orcs were fairly good long-distance runners, but generally were defeated
at shorter sprints.
