I think Death is V in disguise.

Why is Death smoking? No lungs, no air intake. It can't be done.

Nor should the (non-canon) shrunken heads be able to talk... no lungs,
no diaphram, no vocalization.

Are we really interested in telling death personified what it can and
can not do? ;)

She said that 2 died that she did not intend to kill! That does not mean
she has limited the death count to 2 - just that she added two that she did
not originally intend.

In fact he's not smoking at all, but rather holding an ever-burning
cigaratte between his teeth. That's one of the remaining 35 Horcurxes
no one knows about up to now (you didn't really believe Voldy would
stop at 7 soul pieces, did you? Of course he's going for the full 42).

or 49 (7 7s), although that's not as funny as the HGttG reference.

It could be that those 2 were originally to be the only survivors.
Now *everybody* dies!

One person got a reprieve.

Which could also mean that this person will die later on in the
chapter.

NO, the whole point was she changed things so a dead person lives
after all, and two live ones wind up dead. There's no chance they'll
die later. She'd never mention it if they did. This is her Final
Anser on who lives and dies. 2 live ones die, one dead one lives. The
End. If this person still dies, no reprieve has been given.

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding the word "reprieve", I haven't come
upon that one very often, and in school we learnt it could either mean
that a sentence has been lifted or that it had been delayed. So from
your reply I guess the first one is the correct definition?

Yes. She was talking about the final chapter, the epilogue, long
since written, and how it got slightly changed, so one dead person got
a reprieve, and two others got killed. If the reprieve as a delay
she'd just say 2 people died who originally didn't, because it's the
final statement on the cast of characters. Their ultimate fate, after
all is said and done. Any delay becomes meaningless because the
character still dies, and their fate never changed. She would say she
delayed the death of another, perhaps to make it more fitting, or
poignant, or a surprise.
