I have been thinking about getting together a list of texts which have
helped shape Tolkiens writing, and so might be of interest to Tolkien
fans & scholars:
Beowulf (anon)
http://www.gutenberg.org/files/16328/16328-8.txt
The House of the Wolfings (William Morris)
http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/2885
The Story of the Volsungs by Anonymous (trans. William Morris)
http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/1152
The Eddas (Snorri)
http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/14726
The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle
http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/657
It might help to have citations or other references which establish the
link to Tolkien - I had to give Letters & Biography back to the library
and didn't note where the Morris books were mentioned.
It's not a very long at the moment, does anyone have any others they
could add?
