Why is there a frog in the Lava Lamp? Has Groening ever revealed this?

If you are referring to CBG's lava lamp in the episode where he banged
Agnes, it was probably that the frog saw them having sex and jumped in
to the lamp to commit suicide!

In the episode where Homer creates his Mr. X web page, OFF is abducted
and taken to The Island. In the scene where #2 interrogates Homer there
is a lava lamp on the desk and inside the lava lamp, along with floating
green globules, is a green frog. I MUST KNOW WHY!!

The frog I don't understand. But "The Prisoner", which "The Island" is
based on, had a control room with a huge lava lamp type arrangement in
the background. The floating globules would break off and form the
orange balloons that would chase escaping prisoners. "Shut up, that's
why!" Oh, oh, I get your joke. I get jokes.
