Although not exactly simpsons related, we were having fun with this topic
awhile back.
Anyway, yesterday my brothers and I were hanging out in downtown De Pere
(WI) when we came across a Chinese restaurant with a big sign, the name of
the restaurant: No. 1 Chinese Restaurant

Now that's just plain not trying!
I read an article recently about people getting tattoos of Chinese/Japanese
characters that are supposed to be literal translations of a phrase.
However, oftentimes the literal translation is not what you're after. For
example, 'Rock and Roll!' might turn out to be 'Rock and Dinner Bun!';
'Blood and Guts' turns into 'Blood and Intestines.' (These were actual
examples used in the article.)
Which brings us to an urban legend/joke. A middle-aged lady was having lunch
at a Chinese restaurant. After eating, she decides to use some Chinese
characters on the menu for a knitting project, as they look so nice. She
knits a sweater, with the characters forming a border around the midriff
section.
So she's riding on the bus one day (in the sweater), and notices a couple of
Asian-looking kids giggling and snorting, trying hard not to stare at her.
Finally she goes over and asks them what's so funny. "Your sweater," says
one laughing, "it say : 'Although cheap, this dish unmistakenly tasty!'"

I heard of a famous Karate master, who asked to autograph a young ladies

Now I will sit back and wait for Xino's discourse on how fugu is
Japanese, not Chinese.
BTW Xino, is the flagship Chi-Chi's restaurant still up and running in
De Pere? And do you know who founded the Chi-Chi's restaurant chain?

That brings up another question - do you know if it was conciously chosen
from the song lyric? (Frankie Valli, Jackson Browne, etc.)
Whether it was or wasn't -- not sure what difference that makes! But I'm

In Australia, the state of Victoria (bottom r/h corner) has the numberplate
slogan 'On The Move'. Very appropriate, since 2,000 Victorians a week are
moving to Queensland to live...
