Hi, all.
In what episode was it when homer was at work listening to the radio
with "ticket to paradise" on it?
Any help is great,
kick52
(just want to say: this place has really gone down hill. i just looked
on the main page and it was filled with racial comments, porno and
other off-topic stuff. Can someone place ban these sh*ts? I wonder if i
can get onto the old alt.tv.simpsons.net)

One solution is to subscribe to the discussion list at snpp.com. It's
moderated, and that cuts both ways. It's a good way filter out the crap, but
you have to wait on 1 of the 3 moderators to approve your message.
Another solution is to join or start a web-based discussion board where the
level-headed members (like me!) could be moderators. The messages would be
deleted, if necessary, after the moderator views them, so the spontaneity
would be there. If it come to it, we could outright ban posters by IP
number. And cross-posting would not be an issue.
Anyone know any good web-based Simpsons forums going now?
I wish we could just moderate alt.tv.simpsons (i.e., delete offensive
posts), but I have no idea who ultimately controls it, or if there is any
central control whatsoever.

i would be good if someone would purpose an answer where they elect
someone to be mod, not someone at google. and we could have 4 or 5 mods.

Yeah, I think they bought the data wholesale from the old DejaNews. Check
out http://groups.google.com/group/alt.tv.simpsons/about and you can see how
Aaron is closing in on the Internet King in the "All time top posters."
When he makes it we're all going to chip in and buy him a commemorative
plaque.

No, he's the real deal, but in his never-ending lust for more posts, he gets
carried away sometimes. There are a lot of "meta-jokes" for the regulars
around here. Some are:
"I don't get the stadium reference."
Weird characters in Aaron's signature.
"What was that song that Lisa played...?"
"OK, here's where I think Springfied is..." *
"Thank you again, snpp.com, for providing a snappy answer..."
And of course, we all need to get 'real' lives.
* To be fair, this is a meme that runs throughout Simpsons fandom, not just
a.t.s.

You're welcome, I was just glad I could kind of remember it.
Hmm.. Aaron Space Thingy. I like it.

Don't forget about that song about the pony named "Wildfire"
What IS the name of that song?

You can't have a moderator for a group once it's created - you have to
have something like alt.tv.simpsons.moderated created, and even if you
did, don't expect many people to use it since they're already familiar
with alt.tv.simpsons. (Also, since groups beginning with "alt" aren't
"official" newsgroups - that's why "alt" groups exist in the first
place - there's no guarantee that all news servers would carry
alt.tv.simpsons.moderated, especially if they feel it's just a copy of
alt.tv.simpsons.)
Also remember that this newsgroup dies down during the summer, since
most of the posts deal with new episodes.
We just learn to live with the occasional troll posts.

Yes, but the troll posts outnumber the "real" posts! * sob *
Notice how I put quotes around "real." :)
