Seeing Moonraker agein I just thought about dead animals in the Bond movies.
Seems as if there a more than usual in this movie, lots of pheasants and a
snake. What a pity the murderous dogs did survive. And there are some rats.
That makes me think of animals in the other Bonds - the favorite enemy may
be sharks in Thunderball, Live and Let Die, Spy Who Loved Me (dead again)
For Your Eyes Only, and Licence to Kill. Other deadly fish were seen in From
Russia with Love, You Only Live Twice, Spy Who Loved Me and Licence to Kill.
Lots of snakes (one dead) again in Live and Let Die, here also crododiles,
which appear also in Octopussy. This movies also names a tiger, elephants,
two times horses, leeches and of course the octopus, but none of them dead.
And a spider which also appears in Dr. No, not counting the dragon in this
movie. I also remember an encounter with a rat in Diamonds Are Forver, which
also hosts a scorpion (but not for Bond), a parrot in For Your Eyes Only (I
think there was a second one in another movie but I can't figure it out),
here also a pigeon as a little shocking surprise. Lots of Horses in A View
to a Kill (here also a cat) and The Living Daylights. I don't know the name
of Sanchez' pet. It seems as if Brosnan met no animals?
I'm sure I missed some. Could you help? Heiko

They shot one of the sharks in Thunderball, if you're trying to do a
thorough inventory.

I suppose we don't know that Jaws actually *killed* that shark...

Good point about the sharks. I guess if they're looking for
relateable deadly animals in a place that Bond would be likely to hang
out, sharks fit the bill.

And some mosquitoes! I'm sure they killed some mosquitoes! :-)

DAF, and several other Bond movies have a white cat or two, which
sometimes gets kicked and sometimes gets scared by a gun.

2 parrots, if you count Bibi. Otherwise, 1 parrot and 1 dodo.

Pigeons scare Bond in several movies. I believe all the John Glen
ones? Would that be FYEO, TLD, LTK, and something else?

I feel like there were some camels in one. And monkeys on the
Gibraltar in TLD.
I'd probably need to re-read the list, with the movies straightened
out in chronological order, to think of more.
It seems like the most memorable animals will be the ones that
threaten someone's life -- the attack dogs, sharks, crocodiles,
piranha, and so on.
But people in this newsgroup love to replay Bond movies in their
heads, so if you keep this thread alive, you might yet get an
inventory, down to the last fish or pigeon.

Camels appear in TSWLM.
Rats in FRWL
Horses on Goldfinger's ranch
Mice in MR (Drax' lab in Venice)
There are animals in a Brosnan film: the scorpions in DAD.

The Japanese fighting fish in FRWL as a nice metaphor for the superpowers
fighting to the death.
LOL at the "1 parrot and 1 dodo" comment!

"...Bond's eyes narrowed. He knew, at some point, he would have to slay this

delicious Balkan/Turkish blend to take effect on his lungs, he reflected
that he Ireland had better knock off Mexico for him to make a move in the
office pool..."

I'm sure they would have... had Ireland actually qualified....
....or are you talking about something else?

Whoops....meant Iran.
Maybe I should just stick with baseball.
