Dweezil Zappa (standing with guitar) brings father Frank's music
back to the stage with Zappa Plays Zappa.
It has been 12 years since Frank Zappa died of cancer, silencing
his biting satire, X-rated comedy, intricate compositions and
jaw-dropping guitar playing. Now his son Dweezil is bringing
Frank's music back to the stage with Zappa Plays Zappa, which
visits the Phoenix on Wednesday. The show features Dweezil
fronting a crack ensemble of young musicians playing some of
Frank's classic tunes, including Inca Roads and The Black Page.
Helping out are Napoleon Murphy Brock, who sang in Zappa's band
from 1972-76, drummer Terry Bozzio, who played with Zappa from
1975-78, and guitar wizard Steve Vai, who performed the
"impossible guitar parts" in Frank's music from 1980-82.
8 p.m. Wednesday. Dodge Theatre, 400 W. Washington St.
$34.50-$62. (602) 379-2888, dodgetheatre.com. For a review and
slide show, go to music.azcentral.com.

Today (Sunday) the AZ Republic published a HUGE article about ZPZ, and
FZ's music, with suggestions on where to get started, etc.
Unfortunately, they illustrated the article with a picture of RINGO
STARR, identified as Frank Zappa!
I'm laughing so hard I can't stand it...
