I figure Sheik Osama be ROTFLHAO.
Mighty convenient to have the news about the Abu Musab rub-out.
It hides a barrel of inconvenient news: Laura sleeping a night or
three outside the WH, the Senate vote against the same sex amendment,
the pension fund for DeLay's spouse, the climbdown on talks (or no
talks) with Iran, threats to apply sanctions against Japan for its
refusal to import beef untested for disease, etc etc.

Ain't that the truth. That's the genius of Sheik Osama and his
invention, the Database (aka al Qaeda). It's like a hydra, cut off one
head ... and the 'base has got many more.

Let's not forget Ann Coulter saying 9-11 widows were (figuratively)
dancing on their husband's graves.
The death of Al-Zarqawi is surely a good thing, but isn't it
interesting how we keep getting new boogiemen to go after.
"Osama?....Wait!....Look over here!....See....Sah-dahhhhm.....No, don't
look over there. See....Sah-dahhhhhm....and look...We got him!...Oh,
and look over here.....Al-Zarqawi....See, we're fighting
Al-Zarqawi....in Iraq....to avenge the attack on America....and fight
them over there so we don't have to fight them over here.....And
look!....We got Al-Zarqawi!.....
....Uh, Osama? Osama who?"

Maybe not true for Iraq. At least, the Beeb was saying that he was the
only known big cheese Al Quaeda had in Iraq and none of the rest have
the clout to carry on making trouble on his scale. Lets hope that's true.
Now, George, how 'bout using all those nice family and business
connections with Saudi Arabia to reel in Osama?

If you'll recall, Al-Zarqawi did not start as head of Al Quaeda in
Iraq, he essentially petitioned to be so, turning in a resume of
video-taped head-severings and numerous happy insurgents to get the
position.
I've no doubt Osama is receiving many more eager applicants as I type.

Surely (Shirley?) you don't doubt the number of people around the world
ready willing and able to show their voluminous hate for the US?
While I acknowledge your point, I don't quite see said conspiracy with
figures like Al-Zarqawi. We may have created him through our actions -
but he's real, brutha.

Urrrrrrrrr good luck, if they couldn't do it in 5 years what makes you
think they will now.
The ONLY thing they are interested in is keeping their Monarchy in
power and since he isn't a direct threat to him they couldn't give 2
shits were he is.

Oh, I never said they were manufactured. It's the marketing of the
whole thing that I take issue with. We all know that Osama Bin Laden
is responsible for 9/11 and, yet, he is the one that hasn't been
gotten to. The US has taken down the Taliban, Saddam Hussein, Abu
Musab Al-Zarqawi, and numerous other cards in the terror deck, each
time getting further and futher removed from 9/11.
It just looks suspiciously like this administration tries to take the
path of least resistance. They get who they CAN get because they
can't get who they SHOULD get. That's why we got into Iraq in the
first place. It's easier than playing hardball with Saudi Arabia and
Pakistan.
I'm glad Al-Zarqawi is dead. He was a real asshole. I hope it makes
a difference in this whole mess, but only time will tell.

I know that. You know that, but apparently the majority of the GUAP
(Great Unwashed American Public) don't or they would not have elected
GWB a second time.
I know this: USA used to be a great place to visit and to work. I worked
in NYC during the bicentennial year and by and large had a great time.
Since then I've visited a lot. Even October 2001 was pretty nice - lots
of cars trailing flags, but in the circumstances that was fair enough.
The only OTT oddity was being escorted into the Denver FSDO by an armed
guard, but that was as far as the changes went and I thought even that
would wear off.
Last time I visited was to go to Kitty Hawk in 2003 for the First Flight
celebration and things had changed rather noticeably and not for the
better either. That visit was somewhat scary: lots of guns plus bag and
metal detector searches just to get into what was a pretty low key air
display event. As I said, I used to like to visit and would have worked
in the US again if asked. Now I'm not so sure I even want to visit
again. Attitudes and the atmosphere have changed that much.
Besides, since to rise of the factory feed lots the quality of USDA
approved steak has gone down the pan too.
I put these changes down largely to GWB, his minders and rapacious
thieving buddies like Ken Lay. From an outsider's view it would be only
just if he gets impeached before the end of his term. So, all reminders
of his singular lack of interest in stopping Al Quaeda and the
impressive smoke and mirror display whenever it looks like the GUAP
might notice his inaction need bringing to public attention as often as
possible.
Our Bozo (Blair) is nearly as bad and with any luck he'll get his
comeuppance too. Apart from anything else the speed with which he
shifted his lips from Clinton's backside to the Bush arse without
pausing for breath or missing a beat was a chilling demonstration of his
amorality and total lack of principles.

Agreed. There are psychopaths everywhere.
However, don't forget that Al Quaeda was set up using US and Saudi
money. Was that during the reign of Bush the Older or Clinton? I forget.
Either way, funding them was evidently based on the assumption that
anybody who was Russia's enemy would see eye to eye with their sugar
daddies on everything else too. Stupid assumption!
