This is just a rough idea which have not seen discussed here.
There are 6+1 books and 6+1 soul pieces.
I ask myself whether it could be that each soul fragment is related to
one book.
The "self"-piece is related to book 7, because Harry will fight V
himself.
The diary relates to CoS.
What if there was a loose association of each of the 6 Horcruxs with
each
of the first 6 books.
Maybe a place or so.
For instance, maybe there is a clue or something in the Shreaking Shack
(PoA clue),
and in the room of requirements (OotP).

If this were the case, here's a few ideas.
1. Nagini? (The snake near the begining could be...)
2. Diary
3. Something at the potter's house?
4. So many things... (Triwizard cup, Pettigrew's hand, etc)
5. I would guess the locket that people think was from R.A.B.
6. Again, could be lots of things...
Just a few ideas.

Well, Book 1 was all about the self piece,as that's the one we see.
The 7th's the final piece, and the surprise of where it is.

He won't have 2 snake horcruxes.

You people really think he'll trust his precious Soul Bit to a known
traitor?

The Ring.
7. The surprise.

There are only 6 horcruxes, the person (Voldemort) is the 7th peice.
These are the most likely:
1. Riddle's Diary - Destroyed
2. Marvolo's Ring - Destroyed
3. The Locket - Presumably Destroyed
4. Hufflepuff's Cup
5. Something of Ravenclaw's or of Gryffindor's
6. Nagini
7. Voldemort
If the theory of Harry being a horcruxe, then he would most likely
replace 5.

I wasn't refering to him having 2 snake horcruxes, rather, that the
snake found in book 1 could be Nagini. Just a small posibility, but,
well, yah.

The only problem is that the snake in PS/SS was a constrictor. As we
see when Nagini strikes Arthur Weasley, she is fanged.

But if my assumption were true, we cannot have two books about the self
piece.
I thought that the mirror of erised may help Harry to find one of the
remaining
Horcruxes, that would be the help piece from Book 1.
