Sorry I've been out guys. MY ISP upgraded and as a result they're
having disastrous problems with their news servers. ETA is Friday.
For the moment, I'm posting using google.
And by the way, my procedure went beautifully! No problems (except
perhaps a total blackout covering pretty much the entire day).

If it worked, that's probably not too bad a trade-off. :) Glad to see

I'm using google. My ISP thinks they're too advanced to have news
servers.

Still having server access problems. Looks like a bandwidth limit
issue and it'll be a few weeks before I can use my regular news
servers.
Meanwhile, who's coming to the Gather in August? ^_^

With all the storm activity we have had localy, lots of bandwidth
using things are a bit un-reliable at present...i.e. cell phones,
voip, and internet pipes in general. The power did not come back on at
home untill 2:30 am this morning anfter goind down at 5:00 the night
before :(

It turned out my ISP was using AT&T for their news server, and that
relationship has terminated which left them having to supply their own.
They set a relatively low bandwidth limit, and were having massive user
complaint issues as a result. I wasn't the only one locked out. I've got
it back now! ^_^

I'm afraid I'm not about to start coming along to Gathers. I have enough trouble
scraping together enough money to go and see my mate every few months, and I
tend not to like social events that much anyway.
