Don't know if it's been mentioned, probably has, but I'd thought I'd
share anyway.

Yep, it's was "mentioned" a few weeks ago when it was announced ... and
then whined about for days afterwards by the complainers. :-\

It will be non-anamorphic crap.

Admittedly, it should have been Anamorphic and had sound facilities
equal to the cinema of it's day, rather than simply stereo, but there's
no need to do anything else (ie: clean the picture).
Although I was a little unhappy with some parts of SE v1.0 VHS the SE
v2.0 (on DVD) is the version I'm most happy with. Once I got that on
DVD, I didn't worry about the original series, because V2.0 matches
better with Episodes 1-3.
At any rate, you either buy it or you dont.
Unless of course, the pirate versions have anamorphic transfers and
better sound (which I doubt).

The OT DVD's should not match 'better' with the prequels, the prequels
should match better with the OT. I know that you must mean technology wise.
The special editions were straight and matching them with the look of the
prequels was their true purpise for being made. In addtion to fuding the
TPM and the OT looking dated. The DVD releases just out in some BS.

You don't get it. The Special Editions and the Prequel Trilogy are how
George Lucas wants the movies to look. They are how he would have made
the original movies if he had had the technology and money back in the
late-1970s and 1980s.

Bigger than your mother? How they were originally made is how they were to
look - back then. When they started looking dated, that is when he had to
update them in order for them to still have a sense of shock and awe about
them. Let's face it, when T2 came out, SW really looked old then.
