While rereading the Prisoner of Azkaban I noticed that both Lupin and
Snape were looking at the Maurader's Map at a time when both Harry and
Heromine should be on it in two places at once. It could be argued that
Snape and Lupin didn't notice the two places at once. Since they found
harry/herminone why look to see if they are also elsewhere?
Just a stray thought....

And another stray thought...
Why does that map show Mrs. Norris if she is just a 'cat'? Other animals
don't show up on the map. And was Mrs. Norris around when the Maurader's
were in school? If so she is definitely very old for a normal cat.

Why do you think that?

Either that, or the map can't handle two of the same person, and
ignored the time travelers. Rememebr, a bunch of teens made it. Can't
expdect it to work perfectly. If DD does have his own version to
watch over the school, it's clearly more powerful, because an advanced
adult made it.

Mrs. Norris can get you in trouble. The map looks for troublemakers
and ID's them.

How can you be sure she is just a normal cat? As hpwiki.org speculates,
she might have a Kneazle up her family tree, which would explain this
(and other things).

In "Falling Further In" on ffn, Mrs. Norris is Filch's wife, an Animagus who
got stuck. I personally feel this would explain a lot.

DD can catch them, and won't be praising them for their mischief
(though secretly admiring their spunk.) He above all else would be
listed. The Marauders would include him because he's the headmaster.
MCG as well. And you know they spied on Snape, trouble for them or
no. James and Siirus wouldn't be able to resist. Peter would follow,
and Lupin would never say anything, while having quite misgivings
about it.

They didn't "include" anyone. The map is enchanted to reveal
the whereabouts of anyone in Hogwarts.

Agree. How else would all the students be on it?
