CR Teaser music [message #274566] Di, 23 Mai 2006 10:49

Did anyone notice the music in the (may 1st) 'leaked' French teaser
was slightly different from the music featured in the later released
official teaser? I preferred the 'unofficial' music: better pace and
more powerful. I wonder why 'they' replaced it. The teaser looks
promising, although more emphasis could be placed on the fact this is a
Bond movie and a prequel to the others. When the GE teaser was shown in
the local cinema everybody's attention has drawn ('what a shame - we
have to wait another few months before the film is released'), while
the CR teaser was less succesfull in grabbing everyone's attention.
Despite my earlier doubts Eva Green looks great though.

--- Supposedly, David Arnold didn't score the teaser version but he is
scoring the film and probably finally got around to doing the official
teaser [he was busy with another project]. He's a pretty uninspiring
composer as he's proven himself to be on all his Bond outings since
TND, so I don't expect much from him in CR. Which is too bad, because
that film is going to need the same kind of re-energized oomph that
Barry gave to OHMSS when Lazenby took over. But I fear it'll only be
formless slop masking itself as wannabe Bond music as usual.

Well, he did compose several catchy and original themes like Welcome to
Cuba (Die Another Day) and Snow Business (The World Is Not Enough) and
most of his work is effective: it is often involving, has the right
pace and really makes me feel I am watching a Bond film (unlike Eric
Serra's score, which was too contemporary for my tastes). The only
problem I had with his score for Die Another Day were the remixed
sounds in the last half of the movie. (Yet, the last half of Die in
general was not very good.)
