....and they decided to redo the books in order (by with new titles)...

What would you like to see them call the new LALD, and how would you
avoid too many comparisons to LALD and LTK, and what would need
changing or updating?

They wouldn't do that. It would be too fantastic. It'll never
happen. NO WAY!

That being said, I'll play...

Fleming originially was going to call the book The Undertaker's Wind
(used it for the title of chapter 17 IIRC). That would work for me.

As far as updating that's another thing. A big element of CR06 seems
to be "funding terrorists". It also looks like they plan to run some
story arc between into CR06 and the next film (in '07). They could use
Mr. Big's pirate gold to fund drug running to hurt the USA's culture
etal as an element of the next movie's plot. Some revised version of
that with the drugs coming from Afghanistan raise more funds etc. That
could work and would seem to fit but might be too overtly political for
EON and Sony to stomach.

Matt

That's a given.

Cool.

Dunno if it works for me, but I'd accept it as a working title.

Well, I've made my wish on Afghan terrorist clear here a couple of
times.

I'd rather having MI6 helping the Americans prevent another 9/11.
Smooth politically highly uncorrect plot, and you can make him kill off
some Afghan Terrorists if you so choose...

--- The Undertaker's Wind - sounds like somebody has
a flatulence problem. I think some of the other chapter
titles might be more interesting: Midnight Among the
Worms, Beau Desert, Allumeuse, Death of a Pelican,
the abbreviated With Something That Ate Him [He
Disagreed ...], or my personal very favorite from Ch. 5 -
Nigger Heaven. I wonder how brave EON would be to
use that title. Probably not at all.

Oh yeah, one can easily see EON/Sony choosing one of the names you
suggest for a Bond film. Great choices.

I can also understand why you've been so uniformly killfiled by so many
other posters here.

Why should I fight it?

er um...<Unplonk>

Two words for you WQ. "Seek help"

--- Somebody lacks a sense of humour. Bond is not a religion against
which nothing "sacriligeous" can be mentioned, you know. It's just
Bond.

"Somone long ago called it the "Undertaker`s Wind", but hardly anyone
in Jamaica referred to it by that name anymore. The Undertaker`s Wind
was supposed to blow the bad air out of the island at night. In the
morning, the "Doctor`s Wind" would come and blow the sweet air in from
the sea."

Well, it's the specific Afghan terrorist involved that what makes me
love the idea.

Unfortunately, Art Malik's too old to reprise the role opposite a
younger Bond...

It just doesn't have the rough poetry of a Bond title, IMHO...

More like a long film set 80 - 100 years ago about a woman in a
loveless marriage to an older man... until she meets... I don't know,
some young stud.

Something cooler than worms, and needs to be touch punchier.

No. Sounds like a soap opera character.

Too out there... if you could replace it with a phrase that implied the
same thing...

Something cooler than Pelican, and "Death of a ..." is trite anyway.

Something that... has strength, but "Ate Him"... not sure. And People
might think the him is Bond. Plus there's the "ate him" jokes...

Yeah, well.

No Sensayuma?

"The Jamaica Version" works as a Bond title, in my mind.

Don't know if it works as a LALD replacement title.

"Mister Big" is obviously out unless they can get Chris Noth.

"Passionate Leave" is a little weak, and you'd have to make it
non-government mission...

Then again, it's not like he was On Her Magesty's Secret Service in
that film or had a License to Kill in that.

And on help... obviously it couldn't be Felix again, so who'd meet the
Shark?

Bill Tanner, Charles Robinson?

Falco?

Then again, you'd have to change the Shark, too.

--- I thought about including that one, but nixed it as too ...
literary, I guess, not spyish enough. I don't think there's one
chapter title that can be used instead of LALD so it may lay in a term
or phrase Fleming mentions or some character says, perhaps something
that ties in with the Voodoo slant - like maybe "Put a Spy on You" [as
in 'put a spell on you,' of course]. But that one sounds more spoofish
than Bondish.

Spyish, but more 70s espionage thriller than Bond, I guess.

LOL!

Tom Zielinski
"...Bond's eyes narrowed. He knew, at some point, he would have to slay this
particular dragon. He settled back in his chair, removing a Morlands' three
ring special from the gunmetal cigarette case. As he waited for the
delicious Balkan/Turkish blend to take effect on his lungs, he reflected
that there is little he appreciated more than a well-realized witticism..."

The title, the victim, the source of the injuries, the country it's set
in...

Hmmm... this may not work...
