Something doesn't ring true with this story ...

Connery was age 32 when he first got the role of Bond in Dr No in 1962.
On top of that the story appears to be coming from Diane Cilento,
Connery's first wife who clearly has reasons to muck about Sir Sean's
reputation (and sell copies of her book).
May be true but certainly comes from a somewhat tainted source.
