Having recently seen the TV series Lost for the very first time, I would
have to say: Forget J-Lo. Forget Angelina. Forget Lindsay & Hilary &
Britney. This one tops 'em all! I now nominate actress Evangeline Lilly,
who plays the sultry fugitive Kate on that show, as a future James Bond
girl. Considering her schedule on the 'Lost' set, she might not make Bond
22, but she's a good pick for future Bond films. Her hard sweaty figure
makes being stranded look good.

Oh, yes -- completely agreed. She's quite hot -- and she can act, too.

I was thinking that Sophia Myles, most recently in DOCTOR WHO and the best
thing about the wretched THUNDERBIRDS movie, would make a superb Gala Brand.

I dunno. The best Bond Girls were relatively unknown and therefore
carried no baggage or audience preconceptions with them. Unless they
happened to catch a performance of Bunel's THAT OBSCURE OBJECT OF
DESIRE, for example, most American audiences had no idea who Carol
Boquet was until they saw FYEO. Famke Janssen's only notable film
credit before GE was LORD OF ILLUSIONS; it was the Bond series that put
her on the map. Compare these women (chosen at random) to Tanya
Roberts (a coked-out ex-Angel), Teri Hatcher (small-screen Lois Lane),
Sophie Marceau (who played straight, er, man to David Spade), Denise
Richards (cheerleader-type whose only previous claim to fame was a
liplock with Neve Campbell) and Halle Berry (Oscar-winner who came off
as flippant in DAD, though, hey, I've given her props). Further, the
media weren't as impressed by them as they were by Maria Grazia
Cuccinotta or Rosamund Pike.
Give me Francesca Neri over Evangeline Lily anyday.
