A word of caution on the new DVDs [message #271253] Fr, 19 Mai 2006 00:55

I'm sure it hasn't escaped everyone's notice that the new Bond DVDs are
only being released in Europe initially in July with no date yet
announced for other regions.

However the reason for this is likely to be that the new DVDs are being
released early in Europe as traditionally this is where they will be
more expensive and hence more profit for the manufacturers. In this day
and age of the internet we all have the ability with the click of a
button, to buy these and oher items from from foreign markets, notably
the USA, and with our DVD players generally being easily hacked to be
multi-region (except Sony and Panasonic) we can play other formats. The
studios don't like this.

The release in other regions is likely to tie in with the release of
Casino Royale so if you're willing to be a little bit more patient, I'd
advise wiating till later in the year when you will probably be able to
buy them a lot cheaper from abroad.

Just my two cents worth.

The sets are due for release here in Australia on August 30. Apparently, in
addition to the "attache case" at $400 (AUS) there's also going to be a
"hard case" for $300. Will be interesting to see if this "hard case" also
turns up in Europe.

cheers
