Yesterday evening's "Zappa plays Zappa" concert in Brussels
gave us 20 minutes of old concert footage (Roxy 73 or 74) and
over 3 hours of concert.
It was simply unbelievable - one of the best Zappa shows ever.
We were thrilled to have
- Dweezil Zappa on lead guitar
- Napoleon Murphy Brock on vocals, sax
- Terry Bozzio on drums & vocals
- Steve Vai on guitar
- Aaron Arntz on keyboards, vocals, trumpet
- Sheila Gonzales on horns, keyboards, vocals
- Joe Travers on drums & vocals
- Billy Hulting on percussion
- Pete Griffin on bass
- Jamie Kime on rhythm guitar
No sign of Ahmet :-(
If you still get a chance to see this show, *definitely* go for it.

You're such a fucking moron there aren't even words to descirbe it.
I typical create a list of xome of the greatest musicans to ever live
and then make a notation to scratch their name off as soon as they die
so i will never have to listen to their genius again.
THE 1ST one i remember scratching off the list was
Charlie Parker, on second thought it may have been Buddy Rich or even
Sinarta...........who can remember these days.

I was at the concert. The only thing that disappointed me was Dweezil's
attitude - he doesn't have an inch of his father's sense of humour. He kept
staring at the audience as if he was God descended to Earth. While Napoleon
Murphy Brock and Steve Vai, who gave their best to deliver an awesome show,
funny as hell, Mr Dweezil definitely looked very full of shit. I'm sorry to
say that, but my opinion was shared by a number of people in the audience.
By the way, there were cameras filming the whole concert... wish I could see
it on dvd one day.

Sure :-)
I have seen the Muffin Men twice in small clubs (200 person
audience) with - on those occasions - Ike Willis.
They were superb as well - all thanks to Ike.

Well... I'm already satisfied with the music.
Okay, Dweezil isn't Frank, but why would or should he?
I would appreciate less volume. They definitely had too
much PA power.

I don't really care about the humour.
He was there to play and organize the music.
I think he did a remarkable job.

Yep. Let's hope.

"organize the music"? music is not a software you download and execute... a
Zappa show where you don't laugh is not a Zappa show. You can execute
perfectly The Black Page # 2 and still look like a perfect idiot.
Still, I agree with you that Dweezil did a remarkable job out of putting the
band together...

Ha... for me "to organize" has nothing to do with downloading
and executing software.

It seems that we don't agree on that one.
I can live with that.

Sure.

look like a perfect idiot as well.

That's what I meant with "to organize the music".
A better choice of words might have been "to arrange".

I've seen Ike with Project/Object. He was great.
When he wasn't singing or playing guitar, he sat in a
chair with his eyes closed. I didn't care. The music
was great.
Dweezil is not Frank. I am going to see them in
Philly to hear the MUSIC.
