Truth is I love Country Music. Not the corporate soft rock crap generated
out of the Nashville Machine. White man's Blues, yea, blah blah blah. Why
is Black man's Blues OK, and not real Country?
Both deal with real life and Emotion.
I love Frank's Music, but there is little emotion there, if any. Frank was
very guarded in that respect. Comedy isn't easy either. Frank's OK.
Lefty's OK. Hank's OK. George Jones is OK.
I would alternatly see Frank, Beefheart, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and the
Flying Burrito Brothers in the same month, back in the day. All good.

I wouldn't tell Charlie Pride that. Fact is,
country at the roots level isn't specific
to race . It's not completely a Southern thing,
either - there were Canadians. And this
completely ignores Western...

The original corporate rock. Go check out "Hank
Williams" by Colin Escott. He talks about the
origins of WSM and the Opry.
Great book, explains a lot about the Business,
whether you like Hank or not.

Johnny Cash is not easily classified as Country. He is in a league of his
own. Please do not insult him again.

What?
No John Hartford, Asylum Street Spankers, or Austin Lounge Lizard
fans?
Yes, I know they all do/did stuff that wasn't country, too.

Actually, it's extremely easy to classify Johnny Cash as country, which
is presumably why almost everybody does. In what section do you think we
should look for his records?
