Italian fraud Police squad managed to resolve a complex financial fraud
which involved paper companies in England, Ireland and Malta.

The Italian Police arrested three men and a lady, while 12 persons are being
enquired about the fraud.

It seems Malta is a favourite target for Italian financial fraudsters who
often use "invisible" companies in order to evade tax from their own
country. Just two weeks ago the Guardia di Finanza of Milan investigated
another financial scandal which involved Maltese accountants.

The tax evasion maneuver, termed "Operation Golden Press", was a media
company, Puntocom, headed by Massimo Bassoli, ex-editor of Italian daily il
Giornale d'Italia, with the partnership of two men, Umberto Lorenzini, Rocco
De Filippis and his wife.

The method was simple: The company prepared and issued bills claiming
journalistic collaboration with inexistent Maltese, Irish and English media
organizations. This way, the company did not have to pay tax in Italy and
doubled their income.

The paper companies involved, of which are Maltese-registered companies, are
Mediatel srl, Esedra srl, Esedra societá cooperativa, and Abrondhouse
cooperativa giornalisti.

from the grapvine:

"I spoke to Sjoerd yesterday and he told be that Massimo and his wife have
been in the 'joint' for about a week now. His wife was to be released last
Saturday.

When Sjoerd and Shirley were in Rome, Massimo had told them that he was
being shadowed and that his phone was tapped. Sjoerd told me that Massimo
would all of a sudden, whilst walking in the garden of his villa, start to
shout and scream out to his 'maginary' Cops .......
Turns out that he was not just being paranoid.

The scam was worth about ?.40.000.000,- It appears that even when people
are very successful and are 'rolling in it', they always want more and
more. One thing is for certain. He won't be going to see Dweezil but maybe
Dweezil will go to see him......captive audience. "

Well, some private info on the net,who needs this.esspecially when it
turns out pretty negative,he is a dear friend who is already down,so
this doen't really help!Who are you anyway? The remark that he wasn't
paranoid after all, shows his wits and not his state of mind,we just
have to realize that most of the italians have a great example in their
ex-prime-minister,who made it into fine art!!
Please take this off the net,it shows a wrong type of gossip, totally
out of context, who is behind this type of modern journalism anyway?
