Does anyone Here know of any news servers which might be useful on a
local network? I've got a few news servers combined with pullnews.
Sadly, this is read-only, so I still have to post on Google Groups.
Specifically, I need a server which doesn't have to be able to accept
any incoming connections to send - I can't, since I'm connecting
through a "Double NAT".

I use www.teranews.com and have more bandwidth on a free account ($4 setup
fee) than I ever use (50 MB a day), but because it was slow, I'm on a....$30 a
year account (which gives me access to the faster and more reliable premium
servers) and the bandwidth (12 Gigabytes) I don't use rolls over for next year
and they don't charge me again until I use it up. Or that's what they say.
Either way, there's now way I'm using anywhere NEAR 33 MB a day for AFD.

Oh, sorry. I wasn't specifically talking about a news server account. I
was talking about a news server /program/ which can use 'pull' and
'push', so I don't lose my client cache when I change servers.

I haven't used it myself, but I believe Maxx uses Hamster for this kind
of thing.
http://www.tglsoft.de/ for the Classic version.
http://www.elbiah.de/hamster/ for the Playground (advanced) version.
(I don't know which one you want, sorry.)
