If you're looking at the newsgroups through OE, then you should just be able
to right-click on the message and hit "Reply to group" if you want to post a
reply Here, or hit "Reply to sender" to send a message directly to the
sender that we won't be able to read. I think :)
Oh well. Hope I helped more than I confused you...

Pegasus's got it right. However, you might want to look for a free
newsreader, which will probably have more features than OE.

Its kinda no. In the news group all you need is to leave the same
Subject, it will be a general reply but since you keep the same subject
many clients will take it as a follow up

I like Thunderbird myself; it's got all the features of OE that I ever
used, and some that I like but couldn't get in OE.

Actually, news readers tend to group replies based on references in the
header (ie, message IDs of the messages that came prior). Xnews, for
example, allows you to start a new thread, simply by removing all
references from the header (I think this is how it works, and it makes
perfect sense in my head, but I'm crazy anyway, so I might be dead wrong.
Er, alive wrong.....)

You're bottom posting, which is good, but try to put the reply directly under
the text you're replying to, and remove quoted .sig text.

Indeed. This is good since it enables a tree-like view, letting you see
who replied to whom. If you just put everything into a thread based on
subject, you wouldn't be able to follow different branches of the
conversation very well.

Some clients do treat messages with the same subject line as belonging to
the same thread; I'd say this is a coping mechanism to deal with broken
clients not putting in the References: header. (Google Groups does this,
although they thread based on References: too.) Unfortunately, if two
threads in a group happen to have the same subject (as can occur over
time), the clients will think they're the same thread. This has occurred
in this group in the past.

Azhren: In general, dedicated news clients (XNews, Gravity, Agent...)
tend to be better suited for Usenet. However, it looks like you're
pursuing Thunderbird--that's a good choice, and what I would recommend
for a mail-and-news client. (In fact, I use it for mail, albeit not
news.) And if you're coming from Outlook Express, the interfaces are
quite similar, whereas the UI of some of the other programs would take
some getting used to.

Gravity (what this lil dragon uses) is pretty close to OE, although more
powerful--it's a real news reader and not some "added bell."
