| Info wanted about the upcoming Legacy of the Force series... [message #268213] |

Does anyone have any info about LotF? What the storyline is, who's
going to be present? Who's going to be the big bad? Is it Lumiya? I've
heard people saying that. Also, are other characters from previous
series going to be present, even for mere cameos? Like Jag Fel, Danni
Quee, et al.

All of the principal characters will be back, but we'll see more of a
presence from Jacen, who takes 13-year-old Ben as his Padawan.

Given that it takes place 100 years after the time of Luke Skywalker...I'd
say no.

Given that Luke's son is only 13 in this series, I'd say you're wrong.

He's talking about Legacy of the Force, the novel series,
not Legacy, the Dark Horse comic book series. This link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legacy_of_the_Force
will probably start you in the right direction.

Thanks. Any idea if any of the characters that were introduced in NJO
make a appearance? I'm kind of a Jag Fel and Danni Quee fan.
I've heard that some have speculated that Jacen might go bad in this
series, maybe even become a Sith Lord. If that's the case, maybe the
final fight in the series will be Luke taking on Lumiya in one last,
final slobberknocker, while Ben slugs it out with Darth Jacen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jagged Fel and/or Danni Quee reappear. Fel
is more likely, since his relationship with Jaina is unresolved. They
appear to have had quite a falling out since she was "joined" with
Zakk (sp?). I'm hoping that doesn't continue, because it's annoying
when they finish . . .

I still think that Ben Skywalker will be the one who turns to the Dark
Side. I remember thinking that at the end of the NJO order when he was
born, I think it was the last line in the book that I thought might
have a hidden meaning to it.
Also his behaviour in the Dark Nest Trilogy - distancing himself from
the force and his parent...

I agree about Jag. They should bring him back to either restart his
relationship with Jaina, or have them face-to-face end it conclusively.
With Danni, I could see wanting to show what she's been up to on Zonama
Sekot since Swarm War. Besides, I belive that both her and Jag have a
decent amount of popularity, if I'm not mistaken.
BTW, what do you think about my theory on Jacen going Sith and the
final fights between him and Ben and between Luke and Lumiya?

Well, he distanced himself from the Force and his family because of his
somewhat traumatic childhood growing up during the Yuuzhan Vong War, I
believe. Also, he felt that his parents (Think about it...can you
picture a still little kid going all Sith?) Jacen, on the other hand,
does. He's not only fully grown, he's clearly very powerful, thus a
attractive possible recruit for Lumiya. More over, he does have some of
the Dark Side in his soul. After all, he tried to start a war between
the Chiss and the Kiliks in order to decimate the Kiliks.

I don't see Jacen becoming a Sith, but word is that he fights a Sith
in this series. It will be interesting to see how a new Sith appears
since Palpatine was supposed to be the last of the line. Probably a
Holocron was floating around the galaxy somewhere.

I just don't see it happening, not after all the introspection and
self-training he's done through the years. And they already went the
dark side route with Jaina in NJO and also with Kyp way back in the
day.

True, but he could well still be vunerable to the temptations of the
Dark Side. After all, Luke was a Jedi for years, and a great one, but
he could still face temptation even after all that time. In fact, he
might well struggle with temptation for all his life.
>And they already went the dark side route with Jaina in NJO and also with Kyp way back in the day.
Yeah, but neither of them ever became full-fledged Sith, have they?
Jaina was tempted, at least somewhat, but did she truly succumb? Also,
Kyp was more of a Dark Jedi type, IMO. Yeah, he may have been Exar
Kun's apprentice of a sort, but he was never a true Sith Lord, just a
wannabe, at best.

I thought he encounters a Sith, I don't recall hearing about him
fighting one. SUpposedly, he follows a string of clues and encounters
the Sith in question.

Ever heard of Lumiya? She was a Emperor's Hand trained by Darth Vader
in some of the basics of Sithdom, so she could well have resumed her
Sith sudies after Endor. She could have found one of ol' Palpy's Sith
holocrons, or communed with the Sith spirits on Korriban and Ziost, in
fact the latter planet was where she was during Endor, where she
learned how to make and use a lightwhip.
IMO, Jacen going Sith would certainly be a shocking plot device, and
believeable, if done right.

I read the databank entry on Lumiya. I've read most of the EU stuff
but haven't read more than a few of the graphic novels or comics.
After reading her entry, I really hope they don't use her as the Sith.
I'd like to see a completely new character rather than a recycled one.
I like to see a new character develop since I love that sense of the
unknown.

I don't mind having her, it would probably bring some closure to the
character. However, we could also see some completely new Sith too.
Maybe even Vongerella.

Well, that's a shame. Not that I'm sexist or anything, but I would
have preferred a completely new Sith who recently discovered his
powers. I wasn't that big a fan of Asajj Ventress, and we just had
Lomi Plo in the Dark Nest trilogy.
And why the hell would they spoil book 3 when we haven't gotten book 1

Well, the Wikipedia article on Lumiya says that Jacen will be her
newest recruit. It looks as if Jacen joins the Sith to try to prevent a

Todd,
Does this mean I really need the triology Dark Nest first?
I don't remember Asajj Ventress in the EU. What book was she in before?

She was a character in the prequel Clone Wars saga. She was the one who
gave Anakin Skywalker the pretty scar on his right eye (that you can
see in RotS).

Well, maybe both Jacen AND Ben go to the Dark Side. After all,
supposedly Luke has a vision of him fighting a evil Jacen, and Mara has
a vision of her fighting a evil Ben.

I don't know that you actually need the Dark Nest trilogy, but I
thought it was decent and a nice lead-in to the next series. Others
have disagreed and called it filler, but I've read worse books in the
EU.
Ventress plays a key role in the Clone Wars cartoon, but she's also in
the EU book "Dark Rendezvous," which features Yoda. I really liked
that one since it took Yoda on a mission of his own. I would check
that one out.

Thanks for the info... I'll have to give my Clone Wars DVDs another spin.

Hmmm... why does this remind me of the movies?

Not exactly the smae, IMO. Anakin Skywalker joined to try to get the
power to ensure that Padme would survive her childbirth. Jacen joined
to try to prevent the galaxy from being torn apart by civil war. But
they ARE similar in how good people, through good intentions, can be
corrupted.

I meant the constant barrage of making the galaxy a "peaceful" place
from the Sith:
Palpatine: "Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy, and we shall have
peace."
Anakin: "I have restored peace and security to my new empire"
Vader: "We can end this destructive conflict and bring peace and order
to the galaxy"
Those are all paraphrases, but they do exhibit some insane passion for
"peace".

It's more a desire for control. Peace is merely a by-product of
complete authoritarianism.
