The Next Trek Movie [message #267897] So, 21 Mai 2006 20:39

Was watching one of those entertainment shows last night (I think it was
Extra) and it seems that the new movie (provided it really gets off the
ground) might..that's MIGHT...revamping of the Trekverse rather than a
continuation or addition to it. Granted, it was just a blurb about it,
although time will tell. And none of this "well, I heard the script is
blahblahblah." The powers that be over in the Trekverse or NOTORIOUS for
keeping it close to the vest and making buttloads of revisions.

I hope your wrong I want to see the next generation crew out for at least
one more outing or maybe the ds9 crew for there first. I probally wont watch
it if its another prequal.
Maybe I will when it comes on TV.

The way I see it, even when Berman was in charge, I think the powers that be
thought everything that was to be said about the Next Generation era of Trek
had been said (I disagree somewhat, but I understand the logic). It should
be interesting how a new regime interprets the Trekverse.

Yeah there isn't a lot the writters can do to the 24th century but I
just don't want another prequel like enterprise. I guess I want to
see what happens to the Voyager crew or if Sisco ever returns.
Plus it doesn't have to be a prequel, what's wrong with setting it
in the 25th century?

1. Too true about Sisko. I feel a great many questions went unanswered at
the end of DS9. What happens to Cardassia? How does Starfleet/Earth/The
Federation rebuild after so many sacrifices were made in the war. What about
all those Federation planets (like Betazed) that were taken away from the
Dominion by the Romulans. Will Kira ever find a meaningful relation...er,
you get the picture. I think this might be better done as a tv flick.

2. What I hope happens is what I've been screaming for FOREVAH...a revamping
of things. Redo things and give fans a new perspective on the Trekverse.

I'd like that do I'm just not a fan of prequals that's all but it
could be revamped another way. Your right though I cant think of
anything fresh for the 24th century. But maybe they'll do a good job
with a prequal, who knows?.

Enterprise would have been a good series if there was decent writers behind
it and better actors.

Except for Phlox and T'Pol, the characters were poorly played.

Like Scott (bear walk as you pace back and forth) Bakula as Jonathan
Archer...

The writing only had three problems: ignored context, lacked subtext,
and generally lousy text.

We'll agree to disagree about Jolene Blalock's supposed acting skills.

As for the rest of the cast, they really weren't given much to work
with, except for Backula who was given many things, often
contradictory.

Yeah.. He as the look but that's it. He have no personality, no charisma and
poor playing skills.
